I’m hating Facebook because it’s pushing allll the “Canada is responsible for American air” articles, including a post by the Whitehouse! I couldn’t figure out how to block the whitehouse account so I snoozed it and wished i could pick “all of the above” for the reasons.
Oddly I discovered my passion for fossils after moving to Toronto and finding them on the shore of Lake Ontario. I’ve yet to fossilize hunt in Alberta. But we’re going to Calgary soon, and I’m for sure going hunting. My kids are trained to spot fossils. My 10 yo found these Crinoid stems last week.
So I have the best uncle in the world. He mailed a trove of fossil treasures from Alberta and BC. Not sure if he found this ammonite as he did the others, but I love it. My fav piece, however, is the tiny and complete Crinoid he found in Bragg Creek, Alberta.
I think it must be rare. My uncle generously gave me this one he bought at a fossil show in the States. Even though it’s nowhere near perfect, I still love it.
The waves were booming yesterday - a day when Lake Ontario feels like an ocean. I found many horn and honeycomb fossils. The picture doesn’t do them justice!
Absolutely amazing afternoon at the lake. Two different people asked me what I was looking for and were interested to hear about fossils (or at least pretended to be), and a dog brought me her ball to throw for her.
I’m going all in on red this Canada Day because that mfer made me patriotic lol. Side note: it’s as hot as hell (this is what my 10 year old said).
I’ve been going through my 7 yo’s school materials from this past year and came across this absolute horror.
I’m awake late and watching 90 day fiancé, and I feel seen. Love me, love my rocks.
Her kindergarten teacher told us she had concerns about our daughter academically. When the teacher had shown her the number 1 and asked her what it was, our daughter said “a stick.” Our sweet child saw the world in pictures and still does. And today she graduated from middle school with honours.
I’m at this point in my book and it seems like the action has reached its pinnacle but there is a lot of book left. I’m afraid for the characters I love!
I need this jellycat Yeti for reasons I don’t even fully understand. I just know he will fix what’s wrong lol
It was a foggy morning down at the lake before a thunderstorm moved in and swept away the fog and my fossil-finding adventure.
Current coping mechanism for bad mental health is collecting ever more fossils. The one on the left is one of the prettiest favosites (aka honeycomb aka charlesvoix stone) coral I’ve found (it looks like fish scales). The one on the right is a beautifully delicate horn coral cross section.
There was an oriole in my backyard this evening. This is not a drill. My new house comes with orioles.
Living in a new house in the spring that you moved into in late August is fun because each day I discover new plants and flowers in our yard that I didn’t know we had. Today? Peonies!
If you need me, I will be baking in the sun watching my kids play sports until the last syllable of recorded time.
…and when they announced the players of the game - he was not one of them. He took it well. I bought him a treat. And eventually each kid will get to be player of the game. But lord, those little clasped hands broke my heart. There is no preparation for the little tragedies of parenting.
To kick off pride month, here’s a pic I took many years ago of my son holding Kermit the frog who is holding a blue jays pride flag. A lot to love in this picture.
I had a small window in my day to look for fossils, but I made it happen and found this beautiful squashed and crystallized horn coral. All you need is one to make your day.
