Released from ICU this afternoon and now home. Photo shows the impact that the back of my S-Works helmet took after I was thrown from my bike 20 yards through the air at 60 km/h and landed in rocks and sand. Without this helmet I’d be dead. E-bike and e-scooter yahoos take note.
Received a scam text this morning telling me that my healthcare card needs to be replaced (see below). I can see how some people might be taken in by this. Don’t be one of them.
Two photos, 9 years apart (2026 on the left, 2017 on the right). Old barn on RR205 out towards Elk Island Park. Neither of us faring particularly well with advancing years.
Did some high intensity intervals (500W, 30km/h uphill seated, 25s) on the bike yesterday. My heart rate recovery is as good as an elite athlete in their prime. Why that is, I don't know, as everything else is as lousy as would be expected of a 60-year-old, BMI-challenged guy with a Scottish diet.
This gentleman is @rfvnative.bsky.social. He may have escaped from Xitter and he invited several of the contributors to Jay's thread to suck his dick. Should you choose to accept his invitation, I suggest that you first check that he cleans his little winkie more carefully than he cleans his teeth.
I just did a google search asking about Claude Lemieux, who passed away tragically earlier this week. Top of the page is google's AI slop generator, which informed me that "Claude Lemieux is still alive". And students are using this shite to help them write papers and theses? Get AI in the bin!
One of the baby red squirrels born in a bird nesting box in my back yard. His first words were “Have those separatists gone yet?”
Was watching a football match in Dundee yesterday and noticed a pitch-side advert for "Shyte Shifters - septic tank emptying and drainage services". I checked their website to find out if they'll also do Provincial governments.
Water dripping from my eavestrough onto a cotoneaster hedge created this “Statue of Liberty in ICE”. Or a Scottish highland dancer. Take your pick.
There’s a bronze statue of a rig pig in Fort Saskatchewan, and every time I walk by it with my dog, I’m surprised that there is not a large crowd surrounding it, on their knees, praying and thanking God for the black gold he gave them. Probably with the lunatic from this video leading the prayer.
Dug a running track for my wee dog in my backyard so she can still get some exercise when it’s too cold to go for walks.
In the corridor outside my office in the Department of Psychiatry this morning. Good advice. Nobody can accuse us of neglecting our duties.
I suggest it would be far less likely that the cats would rip your face off if you use a laser pointer.
Squeeze The Housemartins Donny McCaslin* The Proclaimers (many times) Jann Arden** (and countless others) *The jazz group that were the band for Bowie’s last album, Blackstar. **We had a chat during the show and she then had her band play a Proclaimers song. Highlight of the night 😂 Photo is mine.
My office window on campus. Methinks neither of us are becoming more tolerant of these arseholes in our old age.
I regularly cycle past this huge gas tank located at Shell Scotford, north east of Fort Saskatchewan. Referred to by Shell as the "Pride Tank". The UCP permits support for LGBTQ2S+ and EDI principles at an oil refinery, but not at our universities and schools. Sounds about right.
Just a black bear wandering past my house yesterday morning. Maybe 2 years old, about 42" high at the shoulder.
Second puncture not even 10 km into a ride. Always the bloody back wheel. Already used my spare tube so phone call for a ride home and I’m done for the day. And don’t waste your money on “Stan’s puncture sealant” - goop that goes inside your inner tube and seals holes from the inside. Does it f***.
I’m used to teens yelling for more food. And this one, like most teens, doesn’t seem too picky about what it eats. Here’s the pellet it left on my drive. A mouse and some beetles, all partially digested. 🤮
Security and doorbell cameras picked up a juvenile great horned owl landing on our drive, puking up a pellet and walking over to our front door to scream into the camera microphone demanding more to eat from Mum and Dad.
