Made myself a little pulled bbq pork from slow-cooked pork shoulder just to keep it a little festive in my single lady home. I put it on a toasted ciabatta bun with some caramelized onions. I added some home-made cabbage slaw with vinegar-mayo dressing and sweet pepper relish. Happy July 4th!
New genomics data are on their way to the public realm! GEO entry coming soon. One step closer to predictable epigenetic reprogramming of human cells using engineered chromatin proteins. #epigenetics #synbio Lunch: home made Thai-inspired basil fried rice topped with a fried egg over easy.
It is my honor to “hood” two STEM PhDs, Cancer Biology (left) and Biomedical Engineering (right), today at the #EmoryCommencement ceremony. As a first-gen URM PhD myself it is especially exciting to bestow this hard-earned title to two black women scientists #blackinSTEM
About to “hood” my first Emory/ GA Tech Biomedical Engineering PhD graduate at the GA Tech c/o 2026 PhD ceremony! @gatechengineers.bsky.social #gatechgraduation2026 #blackinSTEM
That is one saucy pig. Sitting there like it knows exactly what it’s doing. The “come hither” eyes, little smirk, just daring you to order another round and make questionable decisions. You know what? I trust it.
Celebrating my 49th trip around the sun with a tequila cocktail and a fried chicken dinner at the best Peruvian spot in Atlanta, Las Brasas! 🥳🎂
Black eyed peas and greens with smoked turkey for the New Year! Plus a bonus bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo. Ready to fight and win in 2026. #newyear2026 #soulfood
Special recognition of today's Kwanzaa principle "Ujima" - collective work and responsibility (Day 3). The Adinkra symbol Akoma Ntoaso (united hearts) is used to represent agreed-upon effort. The symbol also represents a machine-readable XML format for govt., legislative & judiciary documents.
Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate! #kwanzaa2025 #biotech #URMSTEM
Happy Holidays from the Haynes lab and our awesome epigenetic lncRNA bioengineering collaborators from NYU! Thanks to the Jones lab for a great micro-symposium and for hanging with us at our holiday party!
From my recent FAMU-FSU Dept. of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering seminar: “FAMU taught me that science and self-knowledge are inseparable.” “A *culturally responsive education* doesn’t divide, it expands what we see as possible.” Share/repost to support inclusive education in Florida.
Ridiculously incredible aquarium view in our private dining area for the 2025 Hypothesis Fund retreat! @montereybayaquarium.org
Beautiful comb jellyfish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California!
That moment when convergence strikes like a lightning bolt: #chromatin states in floating cells are more flexible than in adherent cells. It’s been right there in the literature all along! Oh and here’s a food photo: pulled roasted lamb, toast, fries, corn cob (Las Brasas, Decatur).
Making good trouble by the John Lewis statue (that replaced the Confederate monument) in downtown Decatur, GA #nokingsday
