I am putting myself in a self-imposed lockdown this week to get an essay written. I just need to HOLD MY NERVE and get it done!!! 💪
Finished! Absolutely loved it! The final book in the trilogy, World of Wonders, wasn’t quite as compelling as the others- at least, until the final pages, which I did enjoy very much. Davies is fantastic ✨ Highly recommended.
Fantastic poetry event next month at the Poetry Café in London: Beyond the Bayeux Tapestry, organised by @susiecampbell.bsky.social. ‘A poetic exploration of lost histories, silenced voices, & contested notions of ‘Britishness’.’ Free but booking essential: www.eventbrite.com/e/beyond-the...
And I have new stained glass window stickers from the Freiburg Münster- the Virgin of Mercy, sheltering souls under her cloak, and Mary & Elizabeth at the Visitation 💞
Thanks for the new addition to my office noticeboard, @hellomizk.bsky.social 😆
I am two books in to Robertson Davies’ Deptford Trilogy and WOWEE 🤩 I bloody love it! This will be my reading experience of the year, no doubt! The three novels are interconnected & the first two have explored the same timeline of events from the perspective of different characters. Just superb!
#NCS2026 was epic! ✨ (As was my journey home- two taxis, a train, a coach, a bus & a plane!!). Now to decide where to put all my @hellomizk.bsky.social merch!! We’re very grateful that @guildmedmak.bsky.social had an official presence at the Congress & we look forward to 2028!
I love the little tiny canals or bächle in Freiburg and the way the shops added little ornaments to them! There was v little water to be found on our final day though!! (Poor frog! 🐸)
#NCS2026 The second paired Medievalism session on Wednesday was also fantastic, with papers by @rebeccamenmuir.bsky.social & Anna Wilson, amongst others.
#NCS2026 Jane’s performance of stories from the Seven Sages of Rome collection was fantastic! Moving, amusing, entertaining- brava! 👏 Excited to chat further with Jane about adapting medieval stories for @guildmedmak.bsky.social soon!
#NCS2026 Storytelling event with @janebonsall.bsky.social next! And we’re in a cool cellar! Bliss! 😇
#NCS2026 The plenary lecture from the brilliant Holly Crocker: Chaucer’s Enchanted Subjects ✨
I shared my session with Mathilda Osborne & Emily Eikost, and we had a great discussion of using adaptations to ‘think with’. Mathilda was talked about queer Arthuriana and Emily about her course on the fey #NCS2026
It was a pleasure to read some of my Margery Kempe poems yday! Margery Kempe in Tesco went down especially well 😁 (with thanks to Victoria Craggs for the fantastic graphic design, turning my poem into a Tesco receipt!) #NCS2026
#NCS2026 It’s my paper this morning at 11am! In our paired Medievalism sessions organised by the brilliant Anna Opanasenko & Philomena Wolf (2nd session is after lunch). Come along, hear some poetry, & grab one of my #TeamMargery pins!
Hand painted Ghost of Chaucer fan made by the genius that is @hellomizk.bsky.social
Ngl number 3 also goes hard 🤣 (this account is now entirely dedicated to Cups of Tea I have Loved while Abroad 🙏🏻🥰)
The only thing better than the first proper cup of tea in three days is the SECOND 🙏🏻😇
My other half’s name means Gift from God and that has been so true today- he rustled up a kettle and some decent milk to make a PROPER BREW (with the teabags I brought with me from England 😉). HALLELUJAH!! 🙏🏻🥳
🚨PSA if you’re at #NCS2026 get yourself a Spaghetti Eis from the ice cream place in the Münsterplatz- officially the best ice cream of my LIFE 🤤🤤🤤
#NCS2026 Wow, this concert was BEAUTIFUL 🤩 (and the rendition of Drunken Sailor was thoroughly amusing 😆) Thank you all!! 👏
Very much looking forward to this evening’s concert as part of #NCS2026 🎶
#NCS2026 We just heard from Rhiannon Jeffrey on Postcolonial readings of MacPherson’s Ossian, and next up is 👇 Laurel Ryan on Canadian Robin Hoods 🏹🌳
#NCS2026 Next up is @rebekahbeatnik.bsky.social on Reimagining the Mabinogian, thinking about how Welsh history relates to coloniser and settler-colonial ideology.
#MCS2026 Day 2 about to begin! I’m in Session a) Understanding the Colonizer / Reimagining the Medieval II: Postcolonial Medievalism. First up @guildmedmak.bsky.social member Marie Sophie Besson 💖
#NCS2026 Come write haiku and draw comics with us!! Come PLAY! 🥳 MODULAR HAIKU COMICS workshop starts in less than ten mins! @hellomizk.bsky.social @guildmedmak.bsky.social
#NCS2026 @jdsargan.bsky.social quoting @meganlcook.bsky.social on dirtbag medievalism and camp medievalism.
Fascinating to hear from @jdsargan.bsky.social about the Guild of Women Book Binders and their medieval inspired work! (Paging @guildmedmak.bsky.social!) #NCS2026
