I’ve always been breathless often mentioning it at cardiology appointments. Recently, for 1st time, I underwent tests to find out I have restrictive ventilatory defect, apparently common after childhood heart surgery (I had 6 thorocotomies & OHS by 13 y/o). Why is this so neglected? ❤️🩹
My fav thing about working at a uni specialising in healthcare is adding widely neglected topics e.g, Ablesim, Medical Trauma & Psychologically Informed Healthcare to DPsych framework. Today, I went interdepartmental sharing my work with a Chronic Heart Failure Programme delivered by nursing dep ❤️🩹

Great to see the ongoing success of this online NHS support group, for people with congenital heart conditions, at Bristol Heart Institute based on our book. It was developed following the success of a similar (in person) group at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital Hospital in New York ❤️❤️🩹
