Cosmo in particular gives me such Sonic Shuffle vibes visually, in the way she takes the design conventions of a Sonic animal and applies them to a non-animal character.

As a kid, I saw this beta footage from Yoshi's Island 64 (the working title for Yoshi's Story at the time) in Nintendo Power's Starfox 64 VHS. When I played Yoshi's Story, I never found this cut area and then called Nintendo Power asking how to find the giant Shy Guy. They had no clue what I meant.

Yeah, agreed. I also like the way it's presented in Battle. It clearly has the same classic hillsides and palm trees from Sonic 1, but has streets and modern buildings too. It's a nice aesthetic mix imo. (I also love how Tails's house is just his face. Geniuses really are alike in Sonic's world)
