The Rock Creek Trail in Bethesda is outstanding! How have I never experienced this until now?! Plus, it's a weird kid on a ... dragon? Yay!
As the fog rolls in, I roll out. My journey stateside begins, full of science, good colleagues, and maybe even a little hope for the future. Thanks again for another grand GRC in Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology!
No science posts from the GRC, per the rules, but I gotta say,the vistas are pretty fantastic.
And it shall serve as a reminder to the next ten generations of water bottles that some favors come with too high a price ... running in Italy is an adventure sometimes. :)

Day 4 of the CSHL summer fly course kicks off with dissections!! Lesrning how to dissections pupae and larvae at all different stages! #cshldros26
How about core populations of neurons and how they differ from each other? Changyuan and Kristina tackle neuronal diversity, staining for Eve and Engrailed. The critical separation of two identities is striking! #cshldros26
Next up, studying asymmetric cell division, it's Fatimah and Rose. They dug into neurogenesis by staining for Prospero and Elav to highlight all neurons vs specific populatiobs of dividing cells (GMCs vs neuroblasts). #cshldros26
First up, Lina and Stephen tackle neural stem cell diversity! Staining for engrailed and deadpan to look at stem cell populations with outstanding resolution! #cshldros26
We've spent the day imaging embryos at #cshldros26. It's been a treat lesrning about different populations, neuronal diversity, and cell fate. And tonight, each group tackles a different question!
Day 3 is at hand here at #cshldros26. Students have stained embryos and are on the microscope pulling down some excellent images of embryonic neuronal and glia populations.
Time for one of my favorite evenings every year... Night 2 of the CSHL summer fly course! I get the privilege of teaching the #cshldros26 students in physics, microscopy, and options for analysis. It's great to geek out about science with amazing students and share the marvels of modern microscopes!
