In case anyone needs to see this in their timeline today #GardenTreasures
The spider on the right is a jumping spider - looks like Holoplatys or Trite pollardi 🕷
The spider on the left is the Australian ground spider, Supunna picta 🕷
This Christmas spider has been a favourite for a while 🕷 #Christmas #Spider #LoveSpiddrs
That's wonderful, Beck! And what's amazing is that the males look quite different from the females. The picture I shared earlier was of an adult female, and here is an adult male. Him and his dark features!
Hi Beck! This is indeed a jumping spider - Helpis minitabunda from Australia. I used to only see them in the North Island, but started seeing them in Christchurch about five years ago and now they're common here
Psychology end-of-year party today. The theme was Christmas movies, so it was time to be Princess Fiona
I wanted to share this gorgeous little jumping spider for #Arachtober! This is a currently unnamed species of Trite that I found in Christchurch. Not normally found there. Amazing what can happen when you take the time to look 🕷 #LoveSpiders
It's been a lovely #Arachtober so far - sharing spider cognition research at a special Arachtober evening (where I made everyone wish each other a Happy Arachtober), plus legendary spider socks and sparkly spiders. Arachtober is the gift that keeps on giving! 🕷#LoveSpiders
Ok, this is on my office door now. Wishing you all a happy #Arachtober! To learn about the history of Arachtober, check out this website Arachtober.com @arachtober.bsky.social @ashleymbradford.bsky.social #LoveSpiders
There's going to be a special #Arachtober evening for Nerd Nite in #Christchurch on Wednesday 1 October! @corvink.bsky.social and I are both giving talks, and I'll be sharing some highlights of spider cognition research. Tickets and further details are here 👉 events.humanitix.com/nerd-nite-ch...
I'm going to talking about spiders on More FM Manawatu tomorrow (Friday) at 8:12 AM 🕷 #NewZealand #SciComm
I've been to Central Park in the Spring, and really liked it! Christchurch is known as the Garden City, and Hagley Park (our equivalent of Central Park) shows many varieties of daffodils at this time of the year!
One of my favourite things about my campus at this time of the year. I took a moment to get some photos before the weather turns this afternoon! #Christchurch #NewZealand
Been ages since I've posted on here. Life's had its ups and downs, but it was lovely to spend some time at Hagley Park today #Christchurch
It's been a lovely day. I really enjoyed seeing some art, and I was grateful for your post because I hadn't thought of going to the pop-up museum. Also, I have a spider who wants to eat ALL my cake, but she's not allowed 😊
For St Patrick's Day, I have found this photo of a lovely Phidippus regius sporting some sparkly green chelicerae 🤩 #LoveSpiders
I spent some time for #SpiderSunday photographing Helpis minitabunda females. I found them here in Christchurch, New Zealand #LoveSpiders
I can't go past Sparklemuffin when the quest is for dopamine. I got an extra dose of dopamine the other night when I saw that Sparklemuffin was part of a game show question (and even better, the contestant correctly said that they are spiders 🎉)
Here's a male Helpis minitabunda for #SpiderSunday! I found him here in Christchurch, New Zealand #LoveSpiders
I'm going to be on the radio (ABC Melbourne) on Saturday talking about spiders at around 10:20 AM AEDT 🕷 #LoveSpiders
