Found this chunky fella by the lake this weekend. Polypore people, what am I looking at? #fungi #mushrooms #fungifriends

The caps are buff to tan with lumpy, uneven surfaces and thick rounded white margins, and a white pore surface is visible on the underside. Great question! I describe the spore traps as "overpriced vaccumes" 1. Air is sucked in 2. A cyclone is made 3. Particles (spores, pollen, etc.) are thrown and stick to collection tube walls 4. Exiting air moves up through center of cylone Here's a pic of the sampling head without the helmet on.
