Survived 40 years in tech, having opinions online even longer. Born in New Orleans, I've lived in Thailand, Bangladesh, India, 17 years in Italy. I now mostly post about living and gardening in Australia. She. Lots about me on my website beginningwithi.com
Then the lorikeets showed up in force, seven or eight of them, and that was the end of eating in peace for the kings.
A flock of TEN king parrots showed up (I could not get them all in one photo/video)
Interesting — the lorikeets are usually fearless, I’ve seen them take on cockatoos. And the king parrots are shy. But this lorikeet seems afraid to interrupt a feast of seeds he’d clearly like to join #australianbirds
Commodore 64 - the new generation (this is Brendan’s - I had a Vic 20, mostly used for CompuServe)
Went to this year’s Archibald/Suleiman/Wynn show. I enjoy tte variety of styles and people gathered in one show.
I love how we get these useful PSAs in public bathrooms #australia #healthcare
The local lorikeets are becoming braver. As long as they don’t become brats like the cockatoos… #australianwildlife #birds
More Aus native plants in my garden: Silky Hakea (Hakea sericea) and Acacia linifolia
Australian native plants settling in and blooming in my garden: native indigo and Westringia longifolia #GardeningAustralia
Brush tail possum in the mango tree - can’t get much more Aussie than this
Mexican tarragon looking lovely, wattle looking… over-eager? Pretty sure it shouldn’t be budding quite so early. #bloomscrolling
My beloved bougainvillea is blooming again. Not as spectacularly as in the spring, but always pretty #bloomscrolling
Another native I’ve planted is Melaleuca thymifolia, aka Thyme Honey-myrtle. This one isn’t mine, saw it in a park #bloomscrolling
Acacia linifolia (flax wattle) planted 10 weeks ago as part of my project to nativize the garden is already blooming #bloomscrolling
Was amused to find at our local Big W that data storage still means CDs and cases to put them in
If you look closely, there are five kookaburras in the first picture and four in the second
Looks dramatic but this is a planned burn underway and presumably under control
It’s a gorgeous clear dry night, so here’s the Milky Way and the Southern Cross
Spot the beautiful misfit. Not sure how this flower happened, but I’ll damn sure collect seeds to regrow it next season #BloomScrolling
I’m not much at flower arranging, but I did grow all the flowers: Dahlia, zinnia, and Tithonia #bloomscrolling
