I can't believe I'm still doing this in August, but "ZiPS projects no Red Sox starter with a median projection of 20 HR" and "ZiPS projects no Red Sox starter to hit 20 HR" are two very different sentences with two very different meanings. ZiPS thought 2.7 would hit 20 and 96.5% that someone would.
I swear someone at wunderground sets up their probabilities just in the hope that it'll set me off.
I only play the Eliminator in Forza Horizon 6 to fulfill the Playlist requirements, meaning that there's a racing game that, for all intents and purposes, has a mode called "hide in a forest" for me.
Apparently, the interest in my checking account and my salary are identical because I have to add them together for the IRS!
It's just amazing stuff. Did you know that if you add things together, they're the same value?
Drove through this for 200 miles earlier today which wasn't that much fun
It's funny looking back on my Ohtani projection piece from 2017. At the time, the conventional wisdom was that he'd be far more valuable as a pitcher than a hitter and that ZiPS was crazy *high* on him (it was low). www.espn.com/mlb/insider/...
If the Rays are going to use a rendering to try to encourage the taxpayers just handing them a billion dollars, they should have gone dark with the AI, and painted a nihilistic bleak world *without* free money.
My apology for the politics and insensitivity, but I think everyone making Weekend at Mitch's photoshops/AIs has left too many of the original elements that don't make sense in there, which kind of offends me as a shitposter.
The Belgians should just be satisfied that the president didn't read Danny Wind's satirical book "Let's Kill All the Belgians" and take it way too literally.
It really feels good that COBRA's Weather Dominator was defeated by the GI Joes on July 4th and we're going back to less stupid summer weather.
Don't know why, but it's always satisfying when games of Hearthstone Battlegrounds break the font of the numbers.
Dang headlines that don't give a league name or a first name: I thought the Astros traded Hunter Brown to the Phillies for like 45 seconds earlier.
I have to say, that given Junior Caminero's last season and a half, I kinda feel like I should apologize to ZiPS, which I thought was batshit when it thought he would hit 400 homers in the majors after 2024, after seven career homers in the majors.
This email from my health insurance provider is either trying to be helpful or I should take it as a serious threat.
The shadows have been driving me so nuts that all the spreadsheets I've been working on have been using black backgrounds for now so I don't see the shadows.
It seems like a lot to pay, but at least it's an upgrade (from a 4K VA monitor to a 4K OLED monitor), but there are two little light emitting areas on the bottom right of my current monitor that drive me nuts
I've long gotten used to being older than JRPG antagonists. I'm still a long ways from getting used to being older than their parents, though.
I suspect John Mozeliak was named interim general manager of the Angels because he was the person standing nearest to Perry Minasian at the moment.
RAM prices are definitely a negative in my PC tinkering even when I'm not thinking of RAM changes because I see "sale" prices for RAM like this and want to flip over a table and not even think about PC parts. (In this case, it's not Newegg's fault, it's just an example)
I've been aware of it for decades, but the story of the demise of Dodgers outfielder Len Koenecke still amazes me.
You can in fact offer a non-guaranteed contract to a free agent, and the CBA clearly envisions the possibility that one exists. And, of course, a club option is naturally a non-guaranteed year that both sides agreed to.
