Oh no, there's also a Danish game in the prize pool. Might have to cut into this month's food budget to see if I can get it for preservation, unlikely as that might be... tracker.gamesdonequick.com/tracker/ui/e...
I am always reminded of The Story of Mel: users.cs.utah.edu/~elb/folklor...
My #LastFourWatched shows that I am 1: A man of fine taste and culture, and 2: Allergic to movies made in the last 20 years.
At hyre en skurk til at spille Skeletor er nok lige i overkanten af realisme for min smag.
Glorious 25th of May everyone! Wear the towel, wear the lilac and GNU Sir Terry and GNU Douglas Addams
Fun date idea: Arguing placements on the smart fella / fart smella grid for the characters of Ed, Edd & Eddy
...the hero drills a hole clean through the rapist with her cyborg chest drill. (Watch Steel and Lace (1990))
How cute! I've been in a gnomish recently myself and picked up these three movies based on The Secret Book of Gnomes just the other day. <:)
Oh yeah, definitely Danish. They were working on a building near me a couple of years ago.
I'm not personally too into more action-y or minigame-y parts of the genre, but I do know that the games we get the most requests about at the Royal Danish Library are Matematik i Måneby by Bitfrost and various Gili Soft games such as Gys på Regneslottet.
I was quite into Age of Empires and Age of Mythology back in the day, which allowed the player to read up on every unit's real world history, which is neat when you're doing mythology.
I think a lot of people really enjoyed the 1990s-style edutainment adventure games that could also have a bit of a story and do characters and gags. You'll see a lot of people be nostalgic for the Humongous games, or your Miljøstrup-types or whatever.
No. There's TWO Oneechanbara movies. They are both fully within the so-bad-it's-good end of the scale.
For the record I also grew up on Infinity Engine, SCUMM and (Heroes of) Might and Magic games, so my own list looks quite a bit like yours, hence my very genuine curiosity at what to me looks like an outlier.
On stream just now looked at a slide I did for last year's Vejle Retro Game Days highlighting a timeline of Danish visual novel game releases. The early years are dominated mainly by @vati.bsky.social and @combatplayer.bandcamp.com, then @galdra.com swoops in after Daniel finished his Master on VNs.
Oh, I just saved it to my Jellyfin server in case copyright claim bullshit happens. I have both of your movies on there ;-)
