Joanne Thompson, the federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, is increasing the total allowable catch of Atlantic Mackerel from 500 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes, despite the fish species being well within the “critical zone” (in danger of collapsing) of the Fisheries Act, for the last 15 years 🎣.
