Associate Professor at the Physics Institute of Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Niterói, Brazil. My research is on quantum computation (especially photonic) and foundations of quantum theory.

Newly minted PhD! Rafael Wagner passed his PhD viva at Univ. Minho today with flying colours. Multiple papers and collaborations, deep foundational insights and even experiments, this thesis has it all. Congrats Rafael! @inlnano.bsky.social

This week @michaloszmaniec.bsky.social from CTP-PAS is visiting our group @inl.int ! He gave us an interesting talk on the complexity of boson sampling in the high photon density regime, with lots of discussion afterwards.

1st PhD graduate of our group! Today Filipa Peres passed her PhD examination at the University of Porto with flying colours. A big chunk of our group was there to cheer on her success! The thesis was titled "Optimizing models of hybrid quantum/classical computation".
