I made a thing.

A Magic The Gathering card: it's a typical Swamp type basic land, except the card art is the nasty, swampy Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington DC (United States) that Cheeto Benito ruined while trying to 'fix' it. It definitely looks like you'd get 1 black mana if you tapped it.

We caught this tiny baby today! It is very sweet and very spicy. Likes to be next to you and purr, but also likes to Attack. We initially thought it was a girl because it looked calico from a distance, but on closer examination I think it might be a boy.

Very small kitten, predominantly white with patches of dark tabby stripes, in a top loading pet carrier. It's giving sad eyes trying to convince anyone who will listen to let it out to go make mischief.

Okay, this is horse shit. After today's outage, I come back and am immediately greeted by this crap. I am seriously about ready to cut Meta off completely, even though it will mean losing contacts. Fuck this, and fuck Zuck.

There are a lot of very legitimate reasons to criticize big tech – including the AI industry, how it's being deployed and used, and the fire hose of slop we are being flooded with. But ludditism and regressing on free information is not the way. They will not lead us to a good place.

The Embrian Script, for Threads of a New Dawn. This is the primary script used on the world where it takes place. It's the most common script used to write languages throughout the world on which it takes place. (Those languages are under development.) Check the Alt text for details on each image.

The first column shows each letter, the second and third show two different ways to transliterate it into Roman script, the fourth shows the sound the letter typically makes in the East Modern Embrian language (under development) written in the International Phonetic Alphabet, and the fifth is a pronunciation guide for speakers or General American English.

Three additional charts for the Embrian Script. The first shows common diacritic marks. The second is a table of diphthongs and letters with diacritic marks to show how their pronunciation is affected. The third is standard Embrian punctuation.

A table of Embrian Numerals. They work more or less like East Asian numerals, the sort used in China and Japan.

Oh, and what's this? Upper and lower case numbers? How does that work? The short answer is that upper case multipliers are used when they stand alone, while lower case are used when paired with a basic number. This explanation probably makes no sense without a demonstration, and it's hard to demonstrate it here. Hopefully, I'll have a pdf out with all of this in detail eventually.

It has been 2 years today, and I still feel a surreal vacuum where a fuzzy judgemental potato should be.

An older tricolor Pembroke Welsh corgi named Addison laying in a yard primarily of dirt and dead grass (in the winter), with her head rested on the concrete ledge of a front porch. She has one ear up and one ear permanently down, her eyes partway open and looking relaxed. The wheeled leg of a grill with spilled ashes beneath it, and some tarps covering wood weighed down by rocks, can be seen in the background. A wooden support beam with a "guild" mark from Skyrim drawn on it is visible beside her.

A lot of companies are doing stuff like this and it shouldn't come as any surprise. It's not ideological for a lot of them — it's all about making the most money, appealing to the most potential customers, and not making waves in the current political atmosphere.
