Comedian Eleanor Morton takes you on a magical and eye opening journey through the history of mermaids, and the reasons behind their ongoing allure to humans. As part of her 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Show The Mermaid, Morton presents a history of merfolk and her fascination with all things Mer. Eleanor Morton is an award winning Scottish comedian whose last sell-out hit Fringe Show, Haunted House focused on the cultural history of ghosts and her hometown of Edinburgh. She is also the author of Life Lessons From Historical Women; 18 tales of women from history and what they can teach us today.

A story from the Goon show days: there was an undertaker near the studio and during a break in rehearsals Sellers and Milligan wandered in to reception. Milligan lay down on the floor and Sellers pinged the bell on the counter and called out “Shop!”
