now I’m adding densely populated areas and megacities, I guess? North America really suffers from me always starting with Europe. uh mistakes were made regarding Alaska also, do not quote me about the population distribution in Ethiopia
morning people: “everyone will hate permanent daylight saving time! it’ll be dark when you get up!” me:
update now unless these things are adjustable in an additional way to the one I’m seeing, they may not be as “the last dumbbells I’ll ever need to buy” as i was hoping but still, now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational home gym
i’m baffled as to what this is even telling me not to do. Like, no, I wasn’t planning on using this package to pole vault? and if I’m honest the guidelines for the correct way to open it also leave me with more questions than answers
started doing earth as well as the US again earth: pretty good on everything but the Americas, where I need to figure out the best place to start US: look at how appropriately narrow IL/IN are! almost realistic! do not look at MN!
I think I’m getting worse rather than better at this I need to figure out where the unforced errors are happening that keep causing Wide Illinois and Wide Minnesota
or another example, a tshirt I saw on sale in LA ten years ago with the slogan “Dll ndil, Mdyazh, Leyyfy”
the thing is, when cars were invented they were much worse than they are now (obviously) and people were already worried about a lot of the problems with them—the risk of fatal crashes, the hogging of urban space cars succeeded partly bc the streetcar companies of the time were hated oligopolists
Not criticizing the poster here bc I’m sure he knows this and was just pointing out the absurdity of making sports trivia knowledge some kind of political test but I feel like I have to say: beating them at sports trivia won’t work! The only winning move is not to play!
I looked up LA’s version of this one time after I saw a coyote and there’s a map of sightings which yielded one of my favorite ever screenshots: The Coyote Experiencing The Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime”:
evidently I am going to have to keep posting this until I force myself to write it up as a longform essay
feeling torn about a news story means it’s time for an american chopper meme:
“there’s so much being left out” of… the self-description of a rando at a comedy show? who cares lol
here’s today’s I’ve started including the whole US to try to get over my ineptitude at drawing Alaska the Midwest is still questionable
here is a screenshot of Prince William County’s zoning overlay districts, or “ah yes, the six genders”
this week: my mechanical pencil ran out of lead so the stakes are higher. I’m mostly proud of this effort but I’m learning that the ID/MT border and the LA/MS border aren’t clear in my mind, and I embarrassingly forgot that Iowa borders Wisconsin and Illinois doesn’t border Minnesota
the Chicago Sun-Times logo looks like a censored curse word in a Central European language
see, I work out because I want to look good, and I am absolutely a soft-handed scribe as ways of affirming one’s gender go, this is way more attainable and less harmful than curtailing people’s rights and crashing the global economy
in other doodling news, this is the best I’ve ever done South America. i think the secret is that Peru goes much further west to east than you think please do not ask about Canada
this is probably the best I’ve done it and it still looks bad tbf I put Iceland too far from Europe and it ended up being consequential for the Americas
every time someone alleges that we don’t *actually* have a housing supply shortage i just think of this cartoon. what if the supply shortage is a big hoax and we allow cities to integrate and be more sustainable environmentally and fiscally and get rid of a bunch of pointless rules for nothing?
of course, we needn’t insist on dogmatic pie-in-the-sky liberal goals like three billion Americans. i favor compromise positions such as that advocated by one of America’s most prominent moderates:
(and while I’m on the subject of official guidelines, i made this meme a couple years ago on a glaring lacuna they have:)
happy early new year from the good mirror on the landing of my friend’s apartment building
