Oh, here's another screenshot from a vid he took taking a peek inside the nest a couple months after the move! We identified them as Bombus melanopygus (black-tailed or orange-rumped bumbles) and this was at the end of their nesting season, hatching the last of the new queens.

A picture inside the bumblebee hive. The queen can be seen tending to the cocoons of her babies alongside a smaller bumblebee, possibly a young male. The hive is a mess off old honey, wax, and cocoons in a pocket of pink insulation.

I've heard some bumblebees use old rodent dens with all their leftover nesting material. For these little ones I just cut out the nest and tucked it into some grass in a picnic basket. Every time I see these little guy's around my hometown I wonder if they're the kin of my colony from 7 years ago.

A wicker picnic basket open on the floor of a shed. It is stuffed with long, dried grass, and at one end is a triangular cut of bright pink insulation which contains a bumblebee hive. One of the bumblebees can be seen flying right next to the insulation.

Other miscellaneous bags can be seen around the shed, including the bag that contained the large roll of insulation that the nest was cut from.

The same wicker basket, now closed and moved to a corner by a wooden fence under a tree. Some small branches of cedar have been layered over the top as extra protection from the rain, and there is a small cutout near the base serving as a protected entrance to the nest. A small bumblebee can be seen landing at the entrance.

I found a cool bug. It dropped on my jacket as I was trying to get a better angle to capture it's face and I maaay have screamed like a little girl. 😅

Six legged winged insect. Four clear wings. Body appears dark reddish-brown/black with yellow markings, most prominently visible in segmented bands on the thorax (not seen in this image). Two dark antennae. Long neck. Even longer ovipositor that it swishes around like a tail.

I do food delivery (averaging about 60% minimum wage) and specifically requested to be removed from package delivery via my account page and a support call. I get spammed with these every day. Walmart is the worst and can send these every 5 seconds if I'm too close. Min. wage is over $20/hr here.

An Uber package delivery offer from Walmart to delivery 20 orders for $45.45. The delivery route covers 38.8 miles and is estimated to take 4 hours and 24 minutes (it would definitely take longer as Is be delivering throughout peak traffic). Even IF it only took me that long to load up and deliver all those orders, after my fuel costs alone it would pay $8/hr back when fuel was only $4/gal here.

Y'all... I'm afraid this is AI. Unless dogs have the power to phase through walls. I ruled out some weird opening because there's no light passing through from the kitchen area.

Okay... I have NO idea how the exact link is somehow leading to something different... but this is from the actual article I was looking at. I think one of the coolest ones not in thsi short list, though, is how technology for fuel pumps on the space shuttle helped develop artificial heart pumps.

Made it out to my local #NoKings protest. The best part was absolutely Dana Lyons playing Cows With Guns. I didn't even know he would be there. 6th grade me never could have dreamt I would hear that live. That said, they gotta cut down on the speachin'. 2hr intro before the protest is TOO long.
