An excellent, restorative morning at Mayday Rooms - an archive of radical movements and subcultures - getting to know the lovely people there and flicking through some eco activism material. Also turned up some stuff on radical gardening for one of my fringe projects.
Lingering imposter syndrome immediately demolished this morning by an opening talk on the history of the Glasgow University Settlement. My whole bag! I first learnt about the Settlement Movement (& voluntary action history) in Economic & Social History classes here at Glasgow. Happy WCDC!
Incredible sticker game from some comrades up the road #SaveSheffieldHallam #strike @ucuhallam.bsky.social
I've got a nest of carder bees in one of my pots! You can't see much here but it's very pleasing that they've made their nest out of old wool fleece, literally carding the wool. There's lovely for you.
Hi #UCU26! We're starting our strike today at Sheffield Hallam University, show our delegates some love and solidarity ❤💪 @ucuhallam.bsky.social
They've put an actual lion in the middle of our picket spot! Underhanded management tactics as usual etc etc. #SaveSheffieldHallam #Strike (Follow @ucuhallam.bsky.social for actual content)
At Charity Records and Archives Now day conference at British Academy with Paul Beard presenting on his TNA collaborative PhD research mapping voluntary sector archives. They really roll out the red carpet for charity history down here ey...
Exciting books you find in the university library but don't have time to read (an ongoing problem). Love a timeline.
This is, I would argue a challenging room for a traditional academic presentation. Great fun though.
Some v beautiful posters at BSA. Very much approve of the cutting and sticking approach.
Getting mixed signals from Dr Penta about this conference paper - there's a lot of purring, but also a lot of trying to scratch the words off the page.
Joyful lunchtime field trip for the Community Development Journal to Trans Pride Scotland's standing protest at the Scottish Parliament. DID YOU KNOW though trans women have been banned from using the women's toilets inside the Scottish Parliament. 🤮
Why will no one believe that I *already* have a doctorate (c.f. my employer who's been asking me to "prove it")
Oo - you say - is that a pack of EMR branded playing cards, a perfectly reasonable and desirable branded item? Why No! It's 4x13 marketing messages that massively overpromise on the quality of service you should expect!
Did I run to the station to acquire this ridiculous selection of New Train tat? Of course I did, you've met me.
Finally got my thesis printed to massage my fragile ego. Here's Reina Fenix showing it the respect it deserves.
