Getting a lot from this book, Exile. Exactly what happened to me after I spent 2002–03 teaching in China. Back in the states I had reverse culture shock so badly. Developed anxiety attacks and spent the next 22 years trying to leave for good. I never felt it was my home, even as a kid.

A year ago was the summer solstice. I corrected my birth certificate to X. Spent an afternoon in the sun at the woodhenge and big mound at Cahokia. Magic with friends. A tumultuous six months followed. Now, it was the winter solstice here yesterday. A life turned right-side round. Magic again.
