I don’t post on here much, but I always value your calm and reasoned input amidst the noise. Thank you! Also here is a quiet beach on Ōtamahua Quail Island (Lyttelton Harbour) for you.
The only way to put the hot in a hot cross bun is via toasting. Cafés that microwave = instant fail for HCB101. Show me your hot buns.
A saucer of sand that is artistically (?) decorated with flowers, by little ‘uns. Here’s the 2023 winning entries 😍
Omg I just need there to be a Sand Saucer category for Adults over 45 who Tried Their Best Today Despite Everything. Little River A&P show, on Jan 24 in Wairewa, Banks Peninsula. Who will win Best 3x Pikelets? Who can say!
My PledgeMe reward arrived and it was a reminder that even when all of *this* is going on, and in the face of feeling helpless on the big things, doing a little thing did help make a difference to someone. Thanks again, Siouxsie, and to everyone who helped her.
Meri Kirihimete, to all who celebrate, may the pavlovas be intact and the parents of young’uns filled with stamina for the day ahead. However you spend today, sending restorative wishes your way. Water sometimes helps. 🎄
In today’s big birthday news, Dhi Ferrari at The Welder bakes the best birthday cakes. The Flat White Coffee Cake was amazing. Get there Ōtautahi 🎂
Timeline synchronicity. Give @lcsupportaotearoa.bsky.social a warm welcome Kikorangi 🇳🇿. Wish you didn’t have to exist, but glad you’re here. ❤️
Just helped some tourists w big suitcases to cross the road. Went into nearby cafe, they were also heading there and insisted on buying me a coffee to say thank you! After a few goes I gave up protesting (no big deal etc) & accepted ☺️. Hope their flight back to China is a smooth one. 🇳🇿
Just had the pleasure of meeting Ghostcat in action on St Asaph St near Manchester St corner. Love these slices of pre-quake Ōtautahi! Dog House and Cat’s Pyjamas were my go-to for late night hot chips after one too many, back in the day. Good times. #kikorangi www.ghostcat.co.nz/about
Kia kaha te reo Māori, always. ❤️ And also, Kaikōura you absolute beauty. Perfect place to practice some self care amid *everything*.
Everything seems awful rn, but acts of kindness are tangible and meaningful, so give and receive them, if you can. Been down with crushing fatigue since the weekend. Had help from a special person, the teen, and now someone very kind just delivered dinner unexpectedly and I nearly cried.
If you need to transport yourself to an inner Sydney harbour for peaceful water sounds (and bonus birds), enjoy. 7.30am in April, Sawmillers Reserve. Sound up. 🪶
Reading for your Matariki weekend in Aotearoa. Short | Poto: The big book of small stories | Iti te kupu, nui te kōrero. A beautiful collection from some of our best writers, and each story in both English and te reo Māori.📚
Am trying to notice the small things too. Replenishing the nectar and bird feed station, and now watching Tauhou, finches and sparrows filling up. Perfect time to delight in the latest Pīpipi (news from Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula, NZ), in classic Hugh style. 🪶🌱.
