Okay, this person wins the Commonwealth Games medal for "best hair and general head styling." A TIARA. Magnificent.
In case anyone's unfamiliar. (Being engineers, the Canadians went "we need the right tool for the right job, let's get someone really good at writing to write the thing" and got Rudyard Kipling in.)
Got off the train just in time to loiter outside a bar to watch what I gather is the only interesting thing to happen in the game
AHA it is definitely the cave that makes me go "nope nuh uh no way fuck that"
So much going wrong but today I got to make my dad really, really happy.
From wikipedia - note the yellow eyes, vertical striping on the breast, horizontal bars under the tail
One of the grocery stores in Brossord has reserved the worst spot for Buffalo fans. #gohabsgo
Small Beloved Child decided I needed, and I quote, "the biggest birthday card EVER" and Tiny Beloved Child helped to make it. Under the smiley is a cardboard moon that SBC made, with their photographs stuck to it. Shoe for scale.
I do not know who these speed-skating spectators are, but I adore them.
I made a little joke a while back about how Shesheshen from @wiswell.bsky.social 's excellent SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN is basically a stew (vaguely fluid with variable useful lumps!). Anyway, here is the chicken Shesheshen fanart I am making for tomorrow's supper with people I love.
Table's not set, turkey is going in the oven in about an hour, laundry is still going, and I need to vacuum, but the most important things are all set - tree has presents under it and I made a pie for each household with initials carved into the top.
In preparation for tomorrow, I am deploying The Machine. It peels. It cores. It slices. It has a big suction cup. It has a fun crank handle.
Niblings' present is possibly the most awkward shape I have ever wrapped.
I feel the same way about the guinea fowl on this bottle at the ROM (image courtesy of the ROM!) I love to imagine some woman in Meroe, 1800 years ago, wandering past a potter's stall in a market and thinking 'that is a stupid-looking bird, I love him, I must have it.'

#arthistory people - this lovely sculpture is utterly raw on the back. Is that because it was originally mounted on a wall? Was it maybe part of something bigger?
They're both currently in the Northern Hemisphere, and IIRC India drifted north from the south, so I'm taking it they were around the time? (map shows current antipodeal point and closest city for the Yucatan, with my addition of the Deccan Traps very approximately in a green scribble.)
Here is Dr. Goodall at the Fauna Foundation (source: their facebook page). If you're looking for a way to honour her, I bet she'd be thrilled with this one.
I forgot I had a bowl of whipped cream in my fridge and just look what a gorgeous colour whatever is growing on it is! (Yes, it's also gross, yes, I will be cleaning things well.)
That particular website excludes several Christian sects from the definition of Christianity. On the other hand, the definition given does not state that you have to actually DO anything. On the contrary - the faith is all that matters, and there aren't any rules.
