Lots of talk about the new AI reader on Substack. Here's what it said about my latest piece! emilystmarie.substack.com/p/volga-germ...
Finally writing about the M-word. An odd counter culture group that over the past 500 years became a cult, a genetic identity, a system of survival for members. A strange evolution of rules and beliefs that eats away at those within. More to come. #wip emilystmarie.substack.com/p/how-i-foun...
Initial sketches for the dragon. I did this one a giant sketchbook and it was really hard to photograph or scan! I'll try to get the whole pic with his neck included later but I loved this face.
So exciting to hear @writingwithreed.bsky.social used my painting as inspiration for her upcoming thriller "Black Water Bones" available for pre-order from Net Galley. "It’s a southern thriller packed with tension, small town drama, and mystery." Purrrrrfect 🔥🖤 #art #books
Target readers are 9-14. The previous 3 volumes are full of fantasy/magic/adventure type stories so anything along those lines is a great fit. But music opens it up to thriller, haunted house (creepy music!), entertainment (dance-offs, rap battles, concerts), etc. Use your imagination. Are you in?
Do you have a poem or short story related to music? If you can get it to me asap there's a little bit more room in the anthology and I feel like there are some of you out there with something to contribute! Don't let your perfectionism get in the way of getting published!
Getting ready for Arts Walk this week! Just got these white frames for my prints.

I glimpse of my latest Moon Goddess series, an exploration of the shadow self and divine feminine in watercolor and ink. #art
Just ordered a new batch of prints from Lumaprints. This is for an ongoing archival project I'm working on, turning these 100 year old black and white line art into colorful art for print. Exciting to see these unpainted, knowing they will soon be turned into full color! #art
My two faces from the past, each one surrounded by clues from their lives. I love this idea of forgotten lore, you know the items around them were meaningful in some way, but you have to guess what the story is behind each one. More details to come!
Working on getting these old newspaper articles ready for printing so I can add watercolors. They are going to be in a book, my client is publishing about kitchens in 1922!
Thrilled to share that my Seven Sirens — Chromatic Beauty collection has been invited into not one, but TWO host spaces for April’s Arts Walk. These ink and watercolor sirens will be available as limited-edition luxury prints. Grateful to see this series drawing such a beautiful response. #art

Carmina (Red)💘 The first mermaid of the Seven Sirens. Limited edition giclée prints- details coming soon 💎
This feels like the right way to begin 2026. I’ve been thinking about color bathing, letting saturation, hue, and light bring us to life, and Seven Sirens – Chromatic Beauty feels like bringing that vision fully into the present. More details soon 🌼
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." ~Robert Frost I love this poem so much I always think of it when I see a path in the forest. I also think of "And into the woods I go to lose my mind and find my soul." ~John Muir 🐾
