We're not that far north of RAF Cosford & RAF Shawbury so is always exciting when special aircraft are likely to be in the area for the big shows/events. Otherwise it's the Juno helicopters who do visits for our local events, this young lass trainee piloted this in and out to a show t'other week. :)
hehe, there's a small one sitting in my car drinks holder and who started his life on the road in previous cars of mine. :)
Choppers away! Was shareholders visit day at our local community farm today and one of the attractions is always the local RAF training helicopters that regularly fly over it & our town. This one had a lovely Lass trainee piloting it and giving very engaging talks to everyone. :)
It certainly looks the best place to relax. Have done a sewing machine job for my DiL this week to repair her similar woven cotton fabric hammock which it seems the field mice discovered rolled up in the garden shed. They nibbled away in 4 places along one edge, I've repaired & patched it all up. :)
Oh wow. Just read this and looked out the window... this was not forecast for us! Seems the south westerly winds bringing it have picked up so might just blow over without any rain to top up my garden ponds.
Such perfection in pink, and as here it was a clear blue sky day this morning accept one from then in return.
Mine is bursting out too with 4 flower heads on this plant, largest pictured yesterday with early morning shower drops clinging on. :)
Awww, what a beautiful relaxed Huxley, & how galant of him undertaking his guardian dog role to check there were no hidden monsters under the bed. The getting stuck was his ploy for acknowledgement of doing his duty. ;) I'm on family day care for this big softie now worn out from fun garden games.
Oh my, what a treat. Huggable Huxley brightens everyones timeline. I've been minding this friendly loveable hound for my family today. Tired out after playtime in their garden, as was I somewhat. ;)
Bluebells in abundance are perfect joy makers, will never tire of their annual blooming. Was lucky many years ago to be given some bluebell clumps when a friend was redoing their garden, now to my delight they've spread all over the garden, inc under trees, examples in these pictures. :)
From back then, a souvenir my Dad saved for me from the skip at Wood Green Station when refurbished as part of the upgrading work. Was an old joke between us as when I was very small (before we moved to LDN) & steam trains were the way we visited London I thought had to be grown up to go in there.
5/5 Information on the back of one of the photos, they had different dates over 3 months.
4/52 black and white photos of track relaying work at Kings Cross Station in 1977
My, that brings back happy memories of our local bluebell wood in SW Sheffield. Meanwhile my present garden has random clumps of (sadly non-native) bluebells that have spread themselves over the years. Flowering is happening!
Hurrah! This is the jug our Joules Brewery use, with a pint of their tasty Winter Warmer brew a few years back. Was given the mug by my DiL as she'd caught me muttering 'oh for foxs sake' too many times. It is now my kitchen worktop pen holder and still makes smile. :)
Enjoyed your May Day story, loved the mysterious 'animated stool' character. Find furniture can evoke emotions & hold strong memories. Have a 3 legged Sheffield silversmiths stool left in the cellar of a house we bought there, used now as an armchair side table like my Alvar Aalto 3 legged stool. :)
I know, I've got the postcards to prove it... We were there when the Teeside Development lot were glad to have the docks as its main 'showcase development' & the town council got them to build a splendid new town museum as part of the deal & left after all the marina & museums opened. My memories:
grey/rain/sun/grey/rain/sun on repeat here... btw some pics from my 'granny duties' this week, we did his favourite long slow sniff everything walk, the water drops on his face are from sussing outing exciting smells in the hedgerows. :)
Oh my that's lovely, and here's proof that good ideas repeat. I've recently been sorting 'stuff' from boxes packed up 3 decades ago and found 2 Carlton Ware 'Walking Ware' pottery mugs that were gifted us. Checked and the walking ware china was produced '74 to '86, here's a quick dusty picture:
Fabulous picture. Are lucky to have a small clan of Crows here who share with local starlings the huge very old sycamore & ash tree in the corner of the 'rec' green space nearby. One crow nest has now reached a grand size, very poor pic from an old iPhone:
In a sub-urban garden here the honeysuckle is in flower this week and we'd a frosty night or two before they appeared! Also have young rosemary plants still in flower as well.
That Grauniad item had me grab my early childhood book, a family handmedown 10th ed. printed in WW1 with rough cut pages, was a very much loved & imagination firing tale. Also own a 1947 print edition of Methuen's The Kenneth Grahame Book which still has The Piper chapter. :)
G'day to you, and yeay Woodie! Have had this poster stuck on my wall for years, think it came from one time when the BNP troublesome ranting was really nasty and the Folk world responded strongly & properly. Really should put it in a decent frame & rehang more prominently.
This was Little Madam after the first lot of 'hello greetings' scrittches this morn, she was demanding a second session with that look and also confused as I was showing her Saturne on my phone but she started purring loudly so I think that's a big approval of His Magnificence. :)
Splendid picture. There's a few garden orb spiders using the spaces between my waste collection bins for their webs on my drive so each week I have to carefully unhitch the web of the bin to put out. Been ongoing for weeks now, they lurk in the ivy hanging behind too. Very bad phone pic of one:
Please let your folks know this UK oldie thinks they're great and 100% approves of your Dads T-shirt statement. Hope they have a great group of similarly minded supportive friends. Sadly over here we're also seeing the need for a 'Folk against Fascism' revival yet again. An old poster on my wall.
