I could tell immediately when I let Rocky out this morning that the Canadian wildfires were affecting the air quality south of Lake Erie today. The sky is giving off an unusual, continuous, “sundown orangish” vibe.

Headed nowhere, on a lonely country road, Time and I, came to a stop, when crossing gates dropped, and a whistle cut through thick, evening air. For a generous moment, I was a kid again, intensely watching a train passing, and counting freight cars, that were zipping on by. #poetry #poem

Just got done with the evening watering. Been growing backyard produce for about six years now. Grape tomatoes, peppers, lettuces, radishes and lots of cooking and tea herbs in containers. Picked a handful of ripe items to toss in the pan with leftover pasta and olive oil.

They say we all need
a special, sacred space -
whether that be,
against the trunk of a tree,
surrounded by nature’s
fields and streams,
or on a weathered worn,
wrought iron seat,
tucked in the crannies
and shadowed between,
skyscraping towers
of a bustling city,
- where one can meld
inconspicuously,
within their chosen
scenery,
and allow for a smile
to rejuvenate,
upon one’s own face.

An Appreciation of Environmental Activism - A Poem #poem #poetrycommunity #environment #stewardship #pollution #conservation #ecofriendly #cleanenergy #climatechange

I’ve walk these lands,
like the Forefathers of yours,
from forests to mountains,
hills, meadows, and shores.

I’ve heard Spirits who’ve past,
unleash wailings and cries,
that rose from Their graves,
to the stars in the skies.

I’ve seen Ancient’s shadows,
as they’ve roamed Mother Earth,
observing what we’re doing,
to the lands of Their birth.

I’ve read broken treaties,
and how promises became lies,
Our history, on repeat,
in full view of blind eyes.

I’ve admired how Natives lived,
taking what only They need,
wheres today, has given way,
to extreme corporate greed.

We’ve seen pipelines rip through,
pristine Sacred Lands,
poisoning waters from mining,
and exposed oil sands.

Eco-conscious activists,
have reached out for the reins,
to join forces with Native Peoples,
in safeguarding The Plains.

United in noble intentions,
against habitat desecrations,
and preserve land and waters,
for our Future Generations.
