#BloomScrolling I collected flowers for my bike handlebar vase on the Chain of Lakes Trail today: yarrow, brambles, knapweed, and toadflax.
#BloomScrolling this week’s bike handlebar vase is hawkweed and creeping bellflower.
It was a beautiful day of bike friends for kid’s birthday party Lego scavenger hunt. @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social ’s trike was the perfect mobile snack station. @affabletoaster.bsky.social took all the photos while I coordinated chaos. Not pictured: breaking (& temp fixing) the cargo trike chain. 😬
Any other #HaliSky locals noticed these diamond-shaped markings around town? I’ve seen the white ones in three different locations now, all seemingly on CN Rail property (sidewalks on/under rail bridges). The green ones are in an HRM park, relatively near the rail line too though.
We were very pleased to find these growing in a neglected section of our backyard this year. We did not plant them. But they seem to like the space between our rain barrels and the neighbour’s fence.
After a week of vacation, I’m back at “the gym”. This outdoor gym has been pivotal in getting me back into a strength training habit, after 8 years away from it. Indoor exercise just doesn’t cut it for me anymore. Outdoor exercise has the physical and mental benefits I need.
#BloomScrolling This week’s handlebar bike vase is a selection from my backyard: narrow-leaf sun drop, joe pye, and goutweed.
I didn’t think it was possible to have too many ice cream flavours to chose from, until I saw this sign.
#BloomScrolling: these oxeye daisies have brightened a few rainy days recently. They’ve survived more than a week in this tiny bike handlebar vase.
I feel the same about this guy, who I noticed for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wonder how long they’ve been at their respective posts?!
Signs of summer: the Halifax Common pool is open and the bike racks are full. This photo was taken last night when there were <50 people in the pool, and >14 bikes at the racks. 4 of them were cargo bikes that had carried children to the pool!
#BloomScrolling today’s bicycle handlebar vase contains honeysuckle snipped from a local pathway.
I don’t know what this is all about, but it compels me to share this photo, taken yesterday at Shubenacadie Wildlife park.
#BloomScrolling: the Liverpool #BikeHfx pathway is the perfect spot to pick some tiny blooms right now. Here are some bluebells and buttercups in my bike handlebar vase.
#PedalPoll 2026 shift complete! What a beautiful day for 2 hours on the COLT. I ran my own little Pup Poll alongside the official count.
#BloomScrolling: today’s bike handlebar vase contains forget-me-nots, lily of the valley, and buttercups.
#Bloomscrolling. Today’s bike handlebar vase, featuring forget-me-nots, lily of the valley, and oregano.
Compliance officer then had a hard time finding the car I reported and almost left without ticketing because: “I wasn’t expecting someone parked there” (despite the photo and description in my online form).
Here’s screen shots from my report last summer, for the record. Ticket numbers were assigned, one for each issue. I’ve just sent another follow-up email.
I captured this quiet moment (and thoroughly enjoyed 45 min on the beach with the family) before the dog cut her foot on a rock and we had to carry her out of here. Happy long weekend everyone. I could have used a little less excitement I think!
