Something from the archives? I took this in our neighbourhood a few years ago. When I posted it in the community Facebook group, one of our neighbours said her young son had named all the local tūī and when she showed this to him he exclaimed “oh mum, that’s Lucy!!!” So this is Lucy the tūī. 🪶🇳🇿
Got home today after a week away. My mum has been doing a great job house sitting for us but this guy is soooo happy we’re back. He’s been following me around, purring his head off, sitting on me and demanding affection nonstop for seven hours. Never let it be said that cats don’t love their people.

I was today years old when I learned that Kororāreka means “sweet penguin” because the local penguins are apparently good eating… I took my camera there with the 70-200 on it today and found a tree laden with pīwakawaka. I decided to have a go at making a composite of all my shots of them. 🪶🇳🇿

I spent the day at Fowlds Park today at the request of Mount Albert Lions Rugby League Club. They were celebrating the opening of their new “Centurions” changing rooms, decorated with the names of those who have played 100 games for the club.
