Today is the EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis. 🇧🇪 Belgium recorded 1,747 excess deaths during the latest heatwave. 🇫🇷 Heatwave pushed hospitals towards breaking point as the number of patients soared in France. 🔥 Wildfires have swept across Spain, France, Portugal and the UK.
🇧🇪 In the last 24 hours in Belgium: ⚠️ Dozens of people were hospitalised after a chemical leak at the Port of Antwerp. ⚠️ 6 workers lost their lives in the OXY Tower fire in Brussels. Just two weeks ago, Belgium recorded 1,747 excess deaths, during the recent heatwave. #PublicServicesEmergency

📍 10 June - Hannover Healthcare workers took to the streets against the healthcare reform putting more pressure on health workers and patients. ver.di members protested in front of the Conference of Health Ministers taking place in Hannover.
Meeting with Sylvie Bühler, member of ver.di's Federal Executive Board. Together, we highlighted a shared message: without public services, there's no good jobs, no strong industrial policy, no social justice and no democracy itself. Europe needs strong public services - not austerity.

⚠️ #PublicServicesEmergency in childcare See the email sent by a municipality in Belgium. They say public nurseries are only able to respond to 3️⃣0️⃣% of the demand. Meanwhile childcare workers face low pay and staff shortages. This is why public service workers took a European action on 23 June!
