Arguing since birth. Urban planning, politics, weather, Drag Race, and photography are all fair game. Opinions are strictly my own—unless others agree. I assume that strings of emojis in people's bios are their washing instructions
Every time I hear someone talk about how allowing new high-density housing or reducing parking will "destroy" their neighborhood's "quality of life," I think about maps like this one
Reminder for everyone, but especially folks in the Midwest and Northeast today: A box fan with a MERV13 filter taped to the back is 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀, 𝗶𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 than a dedicated (and expensive) air purifier. www.pscleanair.gov/694/DIY-Air-...
One of the chief cheerleaders for exactly what is happening right now died yesterday and you pretty much had only nice things to say about him If these things are truly 'beyond horrific,' then how can you eulogize the people who enable them? What message does that send?
The Alameda County Courthouse in Oakland is a criminally underrated building
Well, looks like the cat's out of the bag, so might as well unveil the new flag:
You do realize that Google, Amazon, Microsoft and pretty much all software companies have been built (at least initially) off open source projects and code for decades, right? There's a reason this meme is popular:
Yeah, this timelapse from that camera is pretty amazing cameras.alertcalifornia.org?pos=41.8665_...
Confirmed! cameras.alertcalifornia.org?pos=41.8665_... @edwardsanthonyb.bsky.social
California wildfire cameras appear to be showing visible aurora in northern CA where clouds are not present If you are in the Bay Area or Central Valley and in an area with clear skies, go outside, look north, and take a long exposure with your smartphone! @edwardsanthonyb.bsky.social #CAwx
I used free, locally-run, open-weight AI (plus hand edits/Photoshop) to make these
Unless you're controlling for age, it's not clear that phone use has *any* explanatory power. Also notable that democrats who use social media more than 5 hours a day favor democracy more than independents who don't use social media at all. That pretty strongly points to other, stronger factors.
Say what you will about Waymos, I've yet to hear about one of them attempting to drive through a crowd of people at Pride #TransMarch And these are actually not the first cars that did this. One actually plowed through the crowd and luckily it doesn't seem anyone was seriously injured #FuckDrivers
If the fascists believe California will go down without a fight, they got another think coming An attack on one is an attack on all. Defend trans people! P.S. Get with the program, "centrist" Democrats
Me when I see the BlueSky left attacking "the libs" and *voting* and thereby making themselves useful idiots for the fascist forces who want to divide and conquer (just like they've done every time they've had a successful takeover)
The Al G I ordered vs the algae I received... ...and roughly 6,628 business days late
It's very hard to argue with moral panic I also find it darkly funny that people are so exercised about this data center when they live downwind of this:
This fire at a medical supply warehouse in Tracy is producing such a large plume of black smoke that it is now easily visible from space. Hopefully officials from communities downwind are assessing whether any public health alerts are necessary www.cbsnews.com/sacramento/n...
I love seeing the midday sun glint off California's giant solar arrays in the @noaa.gov @nws.noaa.gov visible satellite imagery Moar!
I know exactly why they happen, but I remain perennially fascinated by the absurd temperature gradients we get around here In less than 15 minutes you could bike from 97 degrees to 67 degrees But Karl is coming! #CAwx
