With Bit ESC, I shared stuff pretty early on. Like within the first couple of days of starting the project. This here was the first gif I posted.

Experimented with #gamedev on and off for years before Bit ESC. Never could commit to anything. What really helped was building publicly and posting dev updates to Twitter… till I was too deep to not commit 😬

And don't get me started on those actual game-within-a-game sections... Those were extra painful to do.

For example: this puzzle game here is like 90% fully functional as a standalone game.

💻 "App windows" in Bit ESC were A LOT of work to put in I usually thought I could "fake" it but more often than not I had to make an almost fully-functional thing for them to work right 😭 #gamedev #indiegame

the engine I use & the games I'm making!

Bit ESC started off with a 640x360 base resolution. Halved that early on to make things easier to work with. It also made stuff a bit cuter I think, which is a huge plus (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) #gamedev #indiegame

I tried to limit myself as much as possible while developing Bit ESC so that I could actually finish the game. That’s the main reason Bit is literally a 8x8 square with eyes. #gamedev #indiegame

Had this idea mid-development to make a version of Bit ESC that intentionally glitches out in certain areas and upload it to pirate websites. Might still do it if I get the time. #indiegame #gamedev

Bit ESC uses a custom engine but I actually used #Godot quite a bit to build tools for it including using the editor itself as my level editor. #gamedev

🧊 Sooo... Those 3D sections in Bit ESC were almost cut from the game!? Bit ESC uses a custom 2D engine and doing 3D meant creating a whole new graphics pipeline. My stupid stubbornness is why those sections made it in 😖 #gamedev #indiegame
