Individual grants for home chargepoints have increased to £500, but funding for shared infrastructure in multi-occupancy buildings has been removed.

We've written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, urging her to pause and rethink #eVED, the proposed pay-per-mile tax on EVs. The Government published its consultation response on Monday, confirming it intends to press ahead, but the fundamental concerns raised by drivers still aren't resolved.

Drivers aren't being mandated to buy electric, they have to choose to. So if the transition doesn't work for them, it just doesn't work. That's why we've written to the Secretary of State for Transport, calling for an urgent meeting following the recent media debate about weakening the ZEV Mandate.

We've asked our members where they like to charge 🚗 ⚡  Their answers tell a story the national conversation often misses: there are genuinely great places to charge in England, from scenic views in Cornwall to a farm shop in Gloucestershire. As one driver put it, “charge and do touristy stuff”!

Yesterday's Government announcement to introduce permitted development rights for EV charging and cross-pavement solutions is a major breakthrough for the millions without driveways who currently face a two-tier system of higher costs and fewer options.

The Government has announced today new funding to expand EV charging across England, making it easier for people without driveways to plug in at home and at work. From 1 April, renters, flat owners, and businesses will be able to claim up to £500 off the cost of installing an EV chargepoint.

Your miles, your say 🚗⚡ The Government is proposing a new pay-per-mile scheme for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, known as eVED. From April 2028, the cost of driving electric would change significantly:  - Battery electric vehicles would pay 3p per mile  - Plug-in hybrids 1.5p per mile

📅 Lower cost EVs | Thursday, 5th February We will be joined by Eloise Sacares and Jon Stenning to unpack new research carried out by Cambridge Econometrics on behalf of T&E and EVA England, exploring how access to EVs for lower and middle-income families could be improved.

On Times Radio with Alexis Conran, CEO Vicky Edmonds highlighted that "EV drivers worry less about the availability of charging and more about the price of public charging". More chargers matter, but when charging on the go can cost up to 10x more than at home, price becomes the biggest barrier.
