@sunrisemvmt.bsky.social helped elect a new generation of leaders who came from our movements and brought those movements with them into the halls of power. Now, we’re bringing that fight to the Massachusetts State House.

Over 100 volunteers came together for our biggest canvass yet because we believe Cambridge deserves a future worth fighting for: reliable public transit, clean air and water, and a government that answers to working people, not billionaire donors.

July 31 is the official end of the legislative session, but the legislature has given themselves a pass to delay on important bills until after the primary election. I gathered with grassroots activists at the State House to review the legislature’s accomplishments from this term.

I’m proud to have organized throughout my life to put people over profits, to take money out of politics, and fight for the dignity of all people. My opponent is trying to confuse you about my record because she’s scared of the people-powered movement we’re building. Let’s focus on the real issues.

We must, and will, abolish ICE.

@bostondsa.org held down a shift from midnight until 2am, and I was honored to lead a discussion with DSA on Massachusetts's ongoing voluntary collaboration with ICE. Every other blue state has already ended this agreement, but here politicians continue to hand over data and human beings to ICE.

Immigrant justice organizers led us with music, meditation, and collective breathing exercises, and a ceremony for our community members who have been killed. In a world that tries to rip apart humanity, clutching onto one another, spirit, and shared safety is essential.

As the federal immigration crackdown bears down on our communities, we are coming together to find strength in our shared humanity and turn our grief into action. I was moved to join a 24 hour vigil at the Massachusetts State House to honor the dead and fight for the living.

Massachusetts is the only blue state in the country with a voluntary collaboration agreement with ICE. Ordinary people are showing up to resist this assault on our communities, but our legislature has failed to meet the moment. There are real costs to waiting.

I've been proud to stand with @de-icecitizensbank.org and the movement that made this happen. This is a huge victory, but the fight continues. MA is the only blue state that hasn’t cancelled its voluntary collaboration agreement with ICE. I'm running to change the corrupt system that allows this.

As the US turns 250, the state of our democracy is pretty scary!

Brigham nurses might be back at the bedside, but their fight is not over. On the picket line, I spoke with CIR/SEIU union doctors, who joined their nursing colleagues in solidarity.

Proud to be in solidarity with the MGB Home Care clinicians fighting for their first contract! Creating a union is a huge fight, but even after winning a union election the deck is still stacked against workers, and many newly organized unions lack a first contract long after winning recognition.

Dark money is gearing up to pour $$ into this race. We have denounced the new SuperPAC that was created and have proudly taken the People's Pledge.

⚡️Last night was electric! ⚡️ In the midst of a tornado warning, we had a full house of community leaders and members, fired up about the vision of a city and state that can pass progressive policy and isn’t stymied by State House Leadership who aren’t meeting the moment to fight for working people.

These events are opportunities to celebrate our city's Black history, community, and leaders. They are also opportunities to engage with present day struggles for housing justice, against police violence and surveillance, and the recent victories against Flock and ShotSpotter.

This morning I marched with the Cambridge Juneteenth Committee honoring this year’s theme of Roots, Culture, and Community. This afternoon I was proud to join The Black Response, who continue to advocate against militarized and unjust policing and surveillance in our city.

Vassall co-founded the African Society, a mutual aid society for freed Black Bostonians, and his efforts led to the city's first Black school. On Sunday at the historic Vassall-Craigie-Longfellow House, we celebrated his life and works, and the long history of the abolitionist movement in Cambridge.

The rematch is officially on! After coming 41 votes shy of victory in 2024, we’re back on the ballot and ready to bring real change to Beacon Hill.

We will not back down on our demands for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. We will fight, and we will win.
