China not the biggest contributor. Despite generating huge amounts of plastic waste, decades of investment in waste collection, recycling, treatment & infrastructure mean far less leaks into rivers & the ocean than many assume. They're now among the most aggressive countries at tackling the problem.
The biggest barrier to EV adoption isn't battery technology. It's people forming opinions about EVs from other non owner's opinions rather than from their personal ownership experience. Disruption looks impossible from the outside & obvious from the inside. #EV #Bettrification

Modern solar systems repay their carbon debt in just 1–3 years & financial in roughly 3–8 years, depending on location & electricity prices. Rooftop solar is often quicker than utility-scale projects. Both are then followed by another 25–35+ years of clean, cheap & abundant electricity generation.
Watching people discover Norway used fossil fuel wealth to fund its transition is adorable. Yes mate, that’s the point. They sold the old energy system while demand existed, captured the wealth, invested it, built national savings, electrified transport, & started reducing domestic oil dependence.
Norway will always be the GOAT of the energy transition. Instead of talking about the future, they proved it could be done & showed how. In 15 years, new car sales went from 0% to 99% electric, while the rest of the world kept arguing about timing and speed. #Bettrification #EV

This is a much bigger story than a 1% decline. First time in modern history, the world's largest energy system — with more than 4.1 TW of installed capacity — appears to be showing a sustained decline in CO₂ emissions while electricity demand, industrial output & economic activity continue to grow.
In Australia, for decades, the number of petrol & diesel vehicles increased every year. But after BEV market share surged from 0.5% in June 2021 to 24% in June 2026, and total NEV market share (BEVs + PHEVs) reached 35.8%, we're now seeing the beginning of the end of the ICE age. #Bettrification
China's PM2.5 pollution fell by roughly 60% since 2013, one of the largest & fastest air-quality improvements ever recorded by a major industrial economy. What's remarkable is that it happened while China continued growing, industrialising & expanding electricity generation. #Bettrification #SWB

Wind & solar don't need to individually match nuclear's or coal's capacity factor if they're paired with sufficient storage. The relevant metric increasingly becomes the utilisation and reliability of the combined generation + storage system, not the generator alone. #Bettrification #SWB
China's electricity transition is often portrayed as coal vs renewables. Reality is far more interesting: In 2000, fossils ~75% of installed capacity. By 2025, that fell down dramatically to 34% — not from shutting coal plants, but adding massive new renewables alongside them. #Bettrification #SWB

Before the "capacity isn't generation" replies arrive: here's the generation chart. Fossil fuels' share of China's electricity generation has fallen dramatically over the past two decades — from around 80% to below 60% — while coal's share of installed capacity has fallen from 61% to 32%.

Solar is the largest energy infrastructure expansion in human history. Global solar capacity grew from 227 GW in 2015 to nearly 2,900 GW in 2025 — an increase of 2,673 GW in just a decade. That's almost a 13× increase in 10 years. Even after accounting for lower capacity factors. #Bettrification
China's automotive rise wasn't an accident. It was the result of a deliberate industrial strategy spanning decades, while much of the West became increasingly focused on quarterly earnings, shareholder returns and protecting legacy profit pools. China saw and future and are building it today. #EVs

Electrification isn't just an energy transition. It's a transfer of power > fuel exporters to technology manufacturers. A pathway to greater energy autonomy, sovereignty & independence. Like World Cup, it doesn't inherently favour the richest nations. Cost curves falling so fast everyone can play.

Global grid battery additions (#BESS) have grown from around 1 GW in 2015 to 112 GW in 2025. BloombergNEF expects annual deployments to reach 228 GW by 2030. My Structural Transition Case is considerably more aggressive, reaching 919 GW by 2030, around 4x BloombergNEF's outlook. #Bettrification
Vision meets incumbency. Rinehart says renewables are a lie and backs more coal, oil and gas. Forrest is investing billions in renewables, batteries and electrification. One is defending the system that made them rich. The other is betting on the system replacing it. #Bettrification
Wind now generates roughly as much electricity as nuclear globally, but its growth rate is vastly higher. Over the last decade, wind added around 870 GW of capacity versus roughly 40 GW for nuclear. Better economics, faster deployment and manufacturing scale are winning the day. #Bettrification #SWB
