Farm drama! Three horses of unknown ownership showed up at our rental this morning. Cue the farm owner & two Amish trying to corral them - with one of the Amish driving a golf cart and another driving a small tractor. Pretty horses - hope they find their owner soon.

It's fucking idyllic here.

Rental place is great, although Nu!Baby Izzy is a little concerned for his safety, but I'm drinking wine and porch sitting, so I'm calling it a win.

Had to come to campus today and it has been a sensory nightmare so far. Izzy came with me, but he thought we were going swimming so he's in a snit. Such drama!

It's dad's birthday today. Working with mom on a church fundraiser in dad's honor, making pies for sale. Dad LOVED pie & always said someone making you a pie showed their love for you. A friend of his made the attached for his memorial, and it's both cringe and endearing. Miss you, daddy.

Look who came to his new home!! (Ok, he arrived like 3 days ago but I was confined to my quarters & just emerged today) He's already screamed at me for being stuck in that fucking box, and demanded some gruel to settle his tummy. So needy for such a tiny baby. 🥰 Thank you, @disabledpirate!!

Our true destination? The Air & Space museum! Jack wanted to steal a plane (they'd never miss one, there's so many!), but Niblet kept him firmly in hand. He thought the Spock ears were cool, until we told him he looked like a rabbit in them. Astronaut ice cream was fine, though he prefers the real.

We went into DC! It was more of an adventure than planned - stations were closed, necessitating a bus transfer - but we got there eventually. First stop: Smithsonian carousel! We went twice, because Niblet and Jack loved it so much. Then we had lunch, which Niblet kindly shared with Jack.

After the trauma of the morning (panicking after realizing Baby Izzy was missing, being bereft when he was nowhere to he found, and having to tell Niblet he was lost), Niblet and I took Jack on an adventure.

On another subject entirely, the ladies at Quinn have their finger on the pulse of fandom. Bless Hatosy's equally smokeshow of a wife for letting him do this. I don't think I can actually listen when it comes out, but the pics for the ads are 🔥

This is truly dumb. I was under cover the 4-ish hours I was outside. We walked around for like 15 minutes after 4pm. The sun is apparently now my enemy.

My dog swatted a bee out of the air, pawed it to death, and then ate it in front of me. Meanwhile, this little skink dude is just chillin' across the patio. My dog REALLY has it in for flying creatures. 💀

He ended the day at the petting zoo, trying not to get eaten by goats. There were a few close calls, especially when one got out and was jumping for food. It wasn't the demon goat, though - Izzy really didn't like him for some reason. Maybe the eyes? 🤣 After that it was home again, tired but happy.

Finally after a long day of walking and doing, he had a good night's rest. 😴 Next day it was off on more adventures! First to look at a tower, then to scare off the ducks from a pond. Then his favorite part of the day: the rescue zoo! Woody threw food at us; we were grateful it wasn't poop.

After lunch he wandered over to the mining area and used the sluice to uncover some gems. (He's afraid of someone stealing them, so no pictures!) After that, he checked out the rope course and decided that was for fucking idiots - what do you mean you get a harness? Learn to balance, you twats!

He was fascinated by the mirror lake and the translucent rocks. The wishing well was very pretty, and he threw a coin in. A few more formations and then it was time for lunch!

Little Izzy went on an adventure this weekend. He was excited when he got in the car, wondering where we were going. And then! He realized we were at Luray Caverns! So many rock formations to look at!

This was the view from afar (by which I mean 15th street near the giant pencil), as we were leaving. And that was the less crowded area off in the distance. I'm never leaving my house again.

Accurate representation of my feelings the entire time we were at the kite festival today. The confluence of Cherry Blossom festival, Kite festival, No Kings, and general DC people was just A Lot. Managed to get out of town without crying, running anyone over, or getting in a car wrec tho, so 🤷‍♀️

I feel like Niblet really captured something with the portrait she did of me. I'm not sure what it is, but it sure is something. 🤣

Although the live captions provided by my browser have added some levity to my day. Instead of funds and orgs, we now apparently have funds and Orcs. Clearly I need to brush up on my Tolkien.
