2 small handmade journals featuring salvaged materials and pages from Richard Scarry. The larger is 6 by 4.5" and the illustrations are humorous etiquette lessons about how to behave in a castle. The smaller is 4.5 by 4" and has endsheets featuring a pickle truck, and a ribbon bookmark.

2 small handbound journals featuring B & W photo covers. The larger is 9.5 by 4.5" and has imagery from an Italian design magazine and the smaller is 7 by 4" and has an X-ray image of a human baby. The paper in the smaller is salvaged ledger paper; the larger is vintage typing erasable bond.

My kid and her girlfriend planted milkweed alongside our rented house and observing the lil guys is such a pleasure! Currently: 5 chrysalises, 7 inch-long caterpillars and one (that I'm aware of) that's maybe 3/16 of an inch long. This is from last summer:

Has your wife read this book ? 400 pages about the history of the pencil (yes, including Ticonderogas!). You can read it for free on the Internet Archive, too. I saw it at the library and started reading it kind of as a joke but it turned out to be fascinating.

I liked this one

Leftwing politics has never had a good track record of treating women as fully human, tbh. The women's movement in the US in the 60's came out of that.

Reminds me of a Nick Cave soundsuit!

A person wearing multicolored striped tights is enveloped in a costume that makes them very tall and conceals the upper part of their body. The costume is made of long fur in blotches of various bright colors, and the person is jumping or dancing so that the fur flies around in all directions

If you're traveling by subway, the Times Square Station has the most amazing mosiacs of Nick Cave's art; I route through there every time I'm in NYC just to marvel at them.

A mosaic-covered wall stretches down a tiled hallway, curving away to the left. The mosaics feature larger-then-human sized images of costume sculptures made by the artist Nick Cave (not the musician of the Bad Seeds). They typically cover the body entirely, and feature accumulations of materials like fur, mirrors, buttons or childrens' toys, and they are designed to make sounds as one moves, and to amplify the bodies' movements in ways that are celebratory and ritualistic. In the mosaic, the translation into tiny bits of tile is spectacularly achieved, creating a really magical effect. The figures are surrounded by rings of colored tiles that evoke both energetic emanations and the layered colors in a geode.

Check this out, the lovely handwriting of Prince Rogers Nelson

page of lined paper torn from a spiral-bound notebook has the lyrics to the Prince song Purple Rain in quite lovely handwriting. Prince clearly was taught oldschool US penmanship and stuck to those very formal and conservative letterforms in a way that's surprising given that he was such an iconoclastic innovator in music
