Ran to the library to pick up my latest round of holds. Two books plus a few movies. This shall help keep me entertained while I'm staying inside out of the wildfire smoke. #booksky #libraryhaul
We enjoyed a few hours of smoke free air this morning, allowing us to hit up a few yard sales. Came home with a near complete set of Life Times Books The Wild West, only 3 books are missing. Plus I found a set of The Shorter Oxford Dictionary (1984), ironically I found a volume at each yard sale.
We picked up the card game Long Cow a month or so ago and it's been collecting dust ever since. So, my son and I dusted it off and played a few rounds tonight. It's pretty fun.
I also picked up some movies and documentaries to keep me entertained over the coming days.
Did a library run before it got too hot and smoky today. I have wanted to read Mercedes Lackey for YEARS, but for some reason, I felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of books she's written but it's time to finally dive into her writing.
My recent library pickup is a 5 pack of movies featuring Ernest Hemingway stories. I can't recall if I have read any of these books but I may have many years ago. If I enjoy these, I will be sure to borrow the books later on.
Today's garage sale find is this set of 1963 New Webster Dictionary of the English Language. Another amazing $2 find. I love flipping through older and newer dictionaries and seeing the differences in definitions and which words disappear from one dictionary to the next over the years.
Got some happy mail. My pre-orders for the latest volumes of Yona of the Dawn and Snow White With The Red Hair have arrived. Plus my copies of the 2 Violet Evergarden movies came in - I didn't plan to buy these so soon after picking up the series but at 40% off I couldn't say no.
I forgot to share my anime purchases of the day. I've been meaning to add both of these to my collection for a while but the stores never had them until now. I need to track down the two Violet Evergarden movies to fully complete the series collection, but I'm happy to have these to enjoy.
I took an unplanned trip to the city, so I had to stop at all the bookstores. There wasn't much this time around, but I did find 2 books. And as an added bonus, the last 2 books from my birthday order were waiting for me when I got home. #booksky
Look at the gorgeous end pages. Each volume has different drawings on the front and back end pages.
Uh, guys, it happened again. I found another encyclopedia set. A 1964 Universal World Reference Encyclopedia. I also picked up a 1976 Funk And Wagnalls Dictionary set. The people at the big garage sale recognized me from last time and said they would let me know if more came in. $2 well spent!
Now that I have all of my 'adulting' done for the day, I can read as much as I want. I started In The Hall of the Dragon King by Stephen R. Lawhead last night and read half of it already, so safe to say I'm enjoying it.
Another weekend, another garage sale. Not much this time around but I did find one book I've been interested in for a while, The Dwarves by Markus Heitz. My son found some Warhammer books there as well and had a good chat with the guy selling them.
Today's reading. I'll be finishing Wild And Wrangled by Lyla Sage and continuing Rawhide Rider by Peter Field.
I hit the deal of the century today. Went to the local giant yard sale and scored this full set of Encyclopedia Britannica for $10! I haven't figured out what year they are from, but since the included Book of the Year start in 1959, I'd assume they are from the 1950s or earlier. #booksky
Tragedy has befallen out apple experiment. Only one of the two trees survived the winter but that one tree was thriving, until today. Our dog decided that the tree, which she had always ignored, would make a great stick to chew on and yanked it out of the ground. The bark is too damaged to save it.
It's been a bit over 2 weeks since I last picked up a book. I've been putting much of my time and energy into gardening and some long overdue jobs around the house, so reading got put on hold. But, tonight, I'm making time to read.
Ended up going to the city today and that meant stopping by the used bookstore. I found a few non-fiction books that caught my eye. #booksky 💙📚
Hit up a large garage sale today. The book section was a bit slim but I found a few books, though it was mostly cookbooks. I also found a blu-ray to add to my collection.
Another busy day, still lots to do before the backyard and garden are fully ready for spring planting, but I squeezed in a trip to the library to pick up more books and a movie. #libraryhaul #booksky 💙📚
I've been fairly busy the last few days, but even so, I did manage to squeeze in reading time here and there. It took four days but I read the entire Library Wars: Love & War series and I loved it! I really need to remove that darn library sticker from the first volume.
My latest library haul. Since I'm still reading the books I borrowed during my last visit, I only grabbed DVDs. #libraryhaul
Stopped by the local nursery today and picked up a couple of blueberry plants. We had bought and planted 6 last year but they all died (we're working with that company to either get a refund), so figured I better start replacing those.
I had a strong hankering for buttermilk biscuits, so I whipped up a batch.
My latest pickups from the library. A couple of books, plus a movie and a TV series to keep me entertained. Could I have watched Person of Interest on Netflix? Yes, but I chose to get the DVD from the library instead. #booksky 📚💙 #libraryhaul
After a busy day of catching up on housework, I made sure to run to the library before it closed to pick up my latest hold. I've really been enjoying this series, and I'm sure I will finish it next month at the rate I'm reading.
Swung by the library to pick up a few movies and noticed the book sale section was full. Found some books to bring home, and I think I'm in a mystery mood because they all happen to be mystery books. #booksky #libraryhaul
