Hello everyone remember me? I am currently having a grand time in Vancouver, here for kendo (Japanese sword fighting) nationals on Sat/Sun. Maybe I will start blogging again after this lol. Anyway, here are a couple snaps of what I was up to today, visiting some of my old haunts.
ooh this was a tough call, @middleearth.quest ... but I'm keeping my Athelas leaves.
most exciting book mail I’ve had in awhile: @seananmcguire.bsky.social’s INKPOT GODS has arrived a few days early! #SpecFic
in dire need of a compelling novel to pull me out of the mini reading slump caused by finishing devastating #horror novel THE HUNGER WE PASS DOWN by @jensookfonglee.bsky.social... time to go pick up my library holds and hope one of them does the trick🤞🏻
My sister and I were hoping to walk down the river to our favourite breakfast place this morning but we will no longer be doing that...
I have just discovered that the link to my blog homepage via Google search takes you to a page to buy Viagara... is this part of the reason why my views are down... how do I fix this 💀
As a former librarian - I think WorldCat is your best bet, even if it may not capture everything. I've done a WorldCat search via my alma mater and was able to pull these libraries that have physical copies of BLOOD PRICE:
Hmm, I'm not sure I have enough reading options with these library books 😆 Luckily I have a couple more holds ready! Feat: BROWN GIRL DREAMING by Jacqueline Woodson THE FRESH NEW FACE OF GRISELDA by Jennifer Torres THE ANXIOUS EXILE OF SARA SALT by Gabrielle Prendergast #CanKidLit #MGLit 1/2
Merry Christmas everyone!🎄🎁🌟 This year’s addition to my #Tolkien collection: THE ART OF MERCY IN MIDDLE-EARTH: PAINTINGS INSPIRED BY TOLKIEN’s LEGENDARIUM by @miriamellis.bsky.social
there are a dozen other books I should try to read before the end of the year but oops I’m 30 pages into @naominovik.bsky.social’a THE SUMMER WAR now #novella
I am ready to move on spooky reads! Next up: PITY, POWER AND TOLKIEN’S RING by @alas-not-me.bsky.social for nonfiction and DAVINCI’s CAT by Catherine Gilbert Murdock for fiction Something about both of these feels well-suited to dark cozy evenings and the approaching Christmas season…
tis the season for researching which picture books I'm going to gift for Christmas 📚🎁
I am on a roll with spooky #MGLit right now - currently enjoying SOMETHING'S UP WITH ARLO by Matteo L Cerilli #CanKidLit 🏳️🌈📚
It’s been a minute since I enjoyed some #MGlit - @edenroyce.bsky.social’s THE CREEPENING OF DOGWOOD HOUSE is just what I needed on this blustery grey day!
Here's an update on my #SpooktasticReads bingo, which I will keep working on for the next few weeks. I have finished THE GRAVE THIEF by Dee Hahn (feat a grave digging protagonist) and WHEN THE RECKONING COMES by LaTanya McQueen (Southern gothic horror)
had a fun time at the corn maze last night 🌽 🎃 🥾 atmosphere was perfect. found 7/8 clues so got to take home a couple cute gourds!
Thank you! That is MEETINGS WITH REMARKABLE MANUSCRIPTS by Christopher De Hamel
Good morning! 🍂 I am now 10 days living in my new home. Today I have planned reading and relaxation, to soak in and enjoy my new space 😊 So far I am off to a good start… here is the view from my red reading chair.
can anyone remind me why I loved THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING? ...maybe I should do a post about the classics I sought out during undergrad (as a children's lit major who thought maybe I was missing out on something). 2025 me can't recall why I fell in love with some of these books.
I haven’t read too many books that I want to hype up this year but @silviamg.bsky.social’s THE BEWITCHING is one! Great read while I was camping this past cool rainy weekend. 🏕️ #horror
A lovely Friday to have the day off and go read in a park! CR: HEMLOCK & SILVER by @tkingfisher.com #fantasy
Started reading some Sept ARCs this weekend! Finished MAKING HISTORY by KJ Parker (out 2 Sept from TorDotCom) - a story well-suited to its novella length, check this one out if dark dry humour and commentary on the nature of history and truth appeals to you.
Update: I ended up rereading Janet Taylor Lisle’s THE LOST FLOWER CHILDREN
