Maybe late 9th c - early 10c. Cf. the following from a Psalterium, France, end of 9th c., Zentralbibliothek Zürich, Ms. Car. C 161, fol. 163v. But others are more knowledgeable about this than me.
The Mikasa City Museum in Hokkaido, Japan -- “The Museum of ammonites” displays more than 600 ammonite specimens of over 120 species, found from Cretaceous marine deposits in Hokkaido, including a hall of giant #fossil #ammonites.

I just identified this bivalve from the Pecan Gap formation of Texas (Campanian) as probably Crassatella.
What!? How about the Rocket "Rocky" Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose statue in West Hollywood? Originally erected in 1961 outside the Sunset Strip offices of Jay Ward Productions, it was removed in 2013, restored and returned in 2020.

Interesting sammelband juxtaposition of same woodcut after 10 years of heavy use. The phoenix woodcut to the right is on the title page of Pescatoria et ecloghe del San Martino and dates to [1540]. To the left is the final page of Emilio Probo, De Gli Huomini Illustri di Grecia, dated 1550. (1/2)
#Medieval_Paleography. Two different #manuscript_fragments cover this Quintilian (Lyon 1538). One wraps the book. A smaller fragment from Liber Sextus, L. 5, T. 2, C 18, covers the spine. I have given up on the wrapper. Seems to be legal, but not from Sextus - maybe a Corpus Juris commentary?
