Ok taking off my romantic vashwood glasses for a moment bc stampwoo is so important to me and I need to scream about him please. Trig*ze spoilers in here but I hate the attention the hashtag gets lol just don’t open the photos if ur avoiding spoilers!!

Wolfwood being in a self destructive cycle of violence + vials because it didn’t matter if he lived IS HURTING ME RIGHT NOW… He didn’t have the same fear of death and the incomprehensible unknown of the brothers as MaxWW. To him, nothing was worse than what he already had to face and what he had to do to keep going. The “greater good” of eliminating vash or knives was worthless because someone else held the orphanage in their hand. That’s his boogeyman! Not knives or the Angel arm. If the world ended because of knives, it ended. He saw death as an escape from a living hell, but he couldn’t escape because he had to complete his mission.

His refusal of the vials after Vash’s disappearance… he’s finally free… and he wants to live and be better. Because vash just kept helping him and gave himself to knives to “help him out of a tight spot”.

So that whole -almost death- scene with him seeing Vash in his memories— as someone who has never been considered or taken care of, not worth helping because of who he is and what he’s done. He gave up years of his life and pieces of his soul to protect his home… someone for once came to help him. And Vash kept doing it. With his brother, the orphanage, and the kids in stargaze. Like fuck yeah I made a friend!! I never had a friend! It’s not someone I have to take care of or kill for, and he forgave me when I killed someone he cared for in front of him, then betrayed him!! No one has ever forgiven me, my sins are too great! he still thinks I’m worth saving!! I want to live! and I want to spend my life telling everyone else who’s trapped like I was that they can get out too!!

Ok wait I forgot the most important part the reason any of this exists lol

WW doesn’t really make eye contact with vash because he is tragically, extremely attractive and exactly his type which is why he has to humble him constantly and reiterate that he “ain’t that special just because you’re twenty grandpas old!” Vash is. So much older. Ww is so cute.

Ww does eventually look at him straight-on probably when their rag-tag group is at a tavern and they get trapped sitting across from each other, something ww has SKILLFULLY avoided, mind you, and— oh no. He has light-up elf eyes. Wolfwood did NOT know about this. He has to get sloppy drunk to get out of showing how flustered he is over this.

The next day, he’s convinced it was a trick of the light and grabs Vash’s face Manga-style and OH MY GOD—

vash has fully forgotten about the Light of the Eldar and people tend not to mention it, since it’s expected, so he has NO idea where that came from. But ww let his face go and never mentioned it again… hm. But now when they’re talking, rather than positioning himself away from vash or focusing on his food, pipe, sword, or literally anything else, he is staring directly at Vash, and Vash’s carefully constructed facade is rapidly unraveling, after several thousand years in the making. Why the sudden eye-contact? Why is he staring like he’s seeing the stars for the first time—
