Salford and Kirkby Lonsdale. Electronic music… and that kind of thing.
A photo from this afternoon's trip out to Heysham. One for all you Black Sabbath fans :-)
We went along to see the Ai Weiwei exhibition at Aviva. Absolutely terrific, would deffo recommend. (Tickets are £20, though. Don’t get me started on MIF.)
Spray, on stage, at Salford’s second best electronic music venue, The Eagle Inn.
I know Follow Friday is not really a BlueSky thang but whatever. I’m heartily recommending you follow the charming @danmud.bsky.social for all sorts of amusements and interesting stuff, and it was he who put me onto this book, which I have bought despite it having ‘*****rock’ in the subtitle. #ff
“Think back to your childhood. Do you remember when the anxiety started?”
Having a sort through pictures and photos for framing, I came across this; me in 1989, just before we went onstage at Warwick University.
I fear my plans for Saturday are going to be lost to this book. Whether you’re interested in JFK’s assassination or not, I don’t believe it will affect your enjoyment of true stories that are about people, perception, memory, and the human search for meaning. Great concept and terrific writing.
Many years of (happily) following @judgedewie.bsky.social have led me here. I can only recommend you take the risk and follow him, too.
For completeness, here’s the signed poster, on our kitchen wall.
I've been listening to this album more than anything, this week, but I think it's only available through the Castles In Space subscription library. However, I will play a track from it on #electronicears, tomorrow 👍 'Exoplanets' by Andy Fosberry.
Tonight I went to see Imitating The Dog's 'War of the Worlds' at The Lowry, and it was the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen at the theatre. Absolutely brilliant. If you're within reach of Manchester, it's on until Saturday. Thanks to @guerrillabiscuits.bsky.social for the recommendation.
“In lesser gods we trust”. Plus ça change… Shepard Fairey at Fotografiska, Berlin.
That was magnificent. It’s not my favourite track but, for some reason, ‘Burning Down The House’ had me in tears.
Here's a terrible idea. If you see anyone using one, do a good deed and point them in the direction of an actual PASSWORD PROTECTED password manager. And then destroy the book.
Home cinema set up for ‘The Boat That Rocked’. Soundcheck courtesy of @danmud.bsky.social’s ‘Scotrail SuperDreamCluster’.
Hell’s teeth! Last night of the tour. That was extraordinary. #dirtythree
Warren Ellis, on stage at The Barbican, telling us about his afternoon spent at the Southbank Centre due to his mistaken belief that that was where Dirty Three were playing this evening.
Finally picked up David Stubbs’ ‘Fear Of Music: Why People Get Rothko But Don’t Get Stockhausen’, and it’s excellent. Absolutely loved this about Derek Bailey. I had no idea about this side of his musical life.
