Flank March Miniatures produce a growing range of Cold War miniatures for wargames - all available as high quality STL files for resin 3D printing in 15mm, 20mm and 28mm. British Army and Soviet Motostrelki available with more on the way.
He has a great eye for colour and he’s done a great job adding dirt and damage to each building tile. These aren’t pristine, well-kept homes - they’re forlorn shells which have been riddled with bullets and covered in a layer of mud and dust. Perfect for any 20th Century or Post-Apocalyptic table!
If you’re into 28mm WWII, you read WI or WS&S magazine, or you’ve been to a wargames show in the UK recently, then you’ll undoubtedly know Joe from his (multi-)award winning terrain and tables.
I’ve spent the last year designing the first 2D CQB Terrain pack, turning the tiles from an initial concept into something I’m happy to put on my own tabletop. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work through that process with Joe Bilton from Heroic Maps and the talented folks over at Deep-Cut Studio.
Want to add close-quarters urban combat to your tabletop games but don't have the space, time, or budget for a big collection of 3D buildings?
You can download the free "PAINT For the Protection of Workers' Power" NVA paint guide here: www.flankmarch.com/downloads
If you don't want to take the risk, this new NVA Paint Guide presents a much easier approach to quickly get your Mot.-Schützen table-ready and looking their best.
It's very rare that painting guides come with a health warning - always seek advice from a physician before attempting to paint Strichtarn camouflage on 28mm figures!
It turned into a bit of a passion project and that's mostly because I get the sense from some wargamers who are new to Cold War Gone Hot that the NVA are often easily dismissed as being carbon copy clones of the Soviets.
KLASSENKAMPF includes... - The history of the East German NVA, Fallschirmjäger, and KdA. - Squad TO&E - including 3 different options for the FJ commandos. - ORBATS and Equipment information for Mot.-Schützen from platoon all the way up to division and army level. - A look at the end of the NVA.
A new Cold War Kickstarter means it's time for a new Wargaming Guide. This time it's a lot longer than any of my previous ones - around 25 pages - partly because I got a bit carried away but there was also just so much to cover.
It's nearly the weekend! BRUDERKRIEG 1 has been live for 7 days and it's already 100% funded with every single one of its Stretch Goals unlocked. If you've been on the fence there's now no reason not to jump in and become a backer.
Eagle-eyed Salute-goers may have already had a sneak peak at today's reveal which was hiding on the Full Metal trade stand.
3 days to launch and very excited to finally show off the full East German "box art" from Marco Capparoni. Managed to catch up with Marco at Salute and see him painting live on the @wargamesatlantic.bsky.social stand. Incredibly lucky to work with such a talented guy who only keeps getting better.
Nearly recovered from Salute 53 but with 4 days before the East German Kickstarter goes live there's no time for a rest! I really enjoyed getting the new figures (in Fallschirmjager commando mode) onto the tabletop for the first time, we had a lot of fun and it proved to be a real motivation boost.
It's nearly time for the next chapter in our ongoing Berlin '84 campaign. Will the Fallschirmjägers' high-risk assault pay off? Will the American defenders be able to hold out against an overwhelming Pact offensive? There's only one way to find out... See you at Salute!
The unique feature of the NVA platoon was the shear amount of machine guns - two RPKs in every squad (although they generally lacked heavier fire support so this was intended, in a way, to make up for that) and the Core Platoon will include enough machine gun armed Mot.-Schützen to reflect that.
Every unit needs a leader and these officers and NCOs are always some of my favourite figures to sculpt. Mot.-Schützen organisation was heavily based on Soviet doctrine and so the platoon's command element is fairly light, just two men.
It's nearly the weekend! And there's just enough time for me to put down my paintbrush, push aside all the Salute prep that's taking up my desk and share the first photos showing what you can expect in the BRUDERKRIEG 1 Core Platoon (and confirm the project's launch date while I'm at it).
And pick up your own ready-to-go infantry force from Full Metal Miniatures who'll have boxed up American, Soviet and British infantry platoons on sale for the first time. Keep it Cold War and see you at Salute!
Grab a sneak peak at the new East German BRUDERKRIEG 1 figures and an even sneakier peak at the Fallschirmjäger head options as the NVA's elite commandos launch a daring raid on Berlin's Tempelhof Airport.
After the success of Adepticon we can't wait for Salute - and luckily there's only one week to go! Come and join us for an intro game of the action-packed Battlegroundhd rules and our new Target: Tempelhof scenario. @slondonwarlords.bsky.social
Good enough starting point - feels a bit bright but hopefully weathering will tone that down
Tonight's mission. Fear is the mind killer. But I'm not afraid of painting camo - painting camo is afraid of me!
It’s nearly the weekend! This week’s BRUDERKRIEG project update has been very highly requested in the comments - it’s time for a FREE Sample Figure so you can test print a Mot.-Schützen for yourself!
Who's that Panzer?!?! Matt at W3 Wargaming is working on a new and terrifying East German Kampfpanzer for the BRUDERKRIEG 1 Kickstarter. Despite their best efforts, NATO's intelligence analysts have thus far failed to identify this mystery vehicle. Do you think you know what it is?
East German uniforms can either be a. an effortless breeze or b. incredibly time consuming and fiddly depending purely on whether you think its necessary to paint every line on their Strichtarn camouflage.
It's not quite the weekend but I'm on a train up to Sheffield for ChillCon tomorrow so it's time for an early Kickstarter update!
Time to announce the next winner of Operation Mountain Breaker! This month it's Mikhail Chernyshev with a beautifully painted force of American M60 tanks, Bradley IFVs, MUTT Jeeps and dismounted infantry. Great work Mikhail! @battlegroundhd.bsky.social
THE EAST GERMANS ARE COMING TO KICKSTARTER 🚨🚨🚨This is not a drill - the next Cold War Kickstarter is only one month away! 🚨🚨🚨 www.kickstarter.com/projects/fla...
It's nearly the weekend and, more importantly, time to announce the winner of the inaugural Operation Mountain Breaker! I'm very pleased to say that for January '26, from a strong pool of contending entries, we've picked Simon Jackson's very nice section of British Paras.
