Vaccines, however, are typically formally recommended by the CDC's vaccine advisory committee - called the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) – before they are used. But a federal judge has blocked the committee from convening.

Levy said mFlusiva could still be legally prescribed in the U.S. without ACIP's sign-off.

However, he said, patients most likely would not be able to get insurance coverage, as private insurers generally cover only ACIP-recommended shots, and the public distribution of the vaccine would be severely limited with no official federal guidance on whom the shots should go to. Federal programs, such as Vaccines for Children and Medicaid, also rely on ACIP's guidance.

I hate it when they quote "experts" who mislead people into thinking the vaccine will prevent people from getting Covid. There's zero mention of high quality masks in this piece, which would actually help with prevention. Of course staying up on Covid vaccinations is important, but not for this.

Senator Janeen Sollman's Push for Data Center Accountability Gains Momentum in Hillsboro

SALEM, OR - Senator Janeen Sollman (D-Hillsboro) welcomes City Council President Rob Harris's request on a time-limited pause on new standalone data center permits in Hillsboro.

"This is the right step, and it reflects the concerns shared by the community and the need for information that the Governor's office is seeking from her Data Center Advisory Committee," said Sollman. "Concerns about energy usage and infrastructure needs are why I championed the POWER Act last year. This shifts the costs away from rate payers and holds big tech accountable."

City Council President Harris affirmed that the city's direction is squarely in line with the Senator's legislative efforts: "I appreciate Senator Sollman's partnership on this critical issue for our community. She has led work to increase accountability for data centers at the state level and I look forward to continuing to work with her to find the right approach for Hillsboro."

During the Council meeting, President Harris said: "Let me be clear. To both the proponents and opponents of SB 1586, my request is in alignment with that bill's intent which was to create good paying jobs in advanced manufacturing and ban standalone data centers on newly annexed lands. I now want us to look at the land within Hillsboro and consider a time limited pause in permitting for new standalone data centers that will allow us to have clarity on new state guidelines."

SUMMARY
The K-12 math materials adoption committee was formed and charged to develop a recommendation for instructional materials for math for grades K-12, following the process outlined in the Beaverton School District adoption process in alignment with board policy IIA and administrative regulation II/IIA-AR. The committee has completed its review and has recommended Curriculum Associates' iReady for grades K-5 and Imagine Learning's Illustrative Math for grades 6-12. District administration recommends adoption of the curriculum identified by the adoption committee.

BACKGROUND

The Oregon State Board of Education adopted updated math standards in October 2021 and instructional materials in October 2022. An updated Oregon Department of Education Division 22 corrective action plan for instructional materials adoption was approved by the school board in November 2023. As part of the updated action plan, the district agreed to complete its adoption of math instructional materials for grades K-12 in the 2025-26 school year for implementation in classrooms in fall 2026.

The K-12 math materials adoption committee began meeting in September 2025 and has followed the Beaverton School District adoption process in alignment with policy IIA and administrative regulationII/IIA-AR. The committee read and discussed best math instructional practices and language-rich strategies for math instruction to support multilingual learners. They did a careful review of data, including student achievement, teacher and community input, and evaluations from classroom teachers who piloted the two finalist programs.

RECOMMENDATION

I know a lot of well-meaning people who may have had COVID previously and got Paxlovid at no out-of-pocket cost or a low-ish out-of-pocket cost are telling people (often strangers) who've been recently infected to get Paxlovid. Please know, Paxlovid is not at all accessible for most people today.

CDC deferred questions to Maryland on a call with state animal health officials, Thompson said. "We found out via other routes and then had to go to CDC to tell us what was going on,” she said. "They weren't forthcoming at all. They turned it back over to the state to confirm anything that had happened or what had been found in this traveler."

Just now in Medford, Oregon

George Broyles, a former firefighter who became a smoke researcher for the Forest Service, remembers that era differently. He is among more than two dozen current and former Forest Service officials who told The Times that they believe the agency willfully resisted acknowledging that smoke was dangerous.
