Mon 6 July 8pm I have the privilege of introducing a screening + Q&A with the directors of the incredible documentary Birds of War @glasgowfilmtheatre.bsky.social Winner of the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award at 2026 Sundance Film Festival. It’s a must see.
And it’s a wrap! Well deserved G&T on completion of 3 year photo project documenting ‘the geometry of light’ that plays out in Spain’s Pueblos Blancos- white villages- this final shoot these last weeks was one of the hottest I can recall. But so pleased now with the portfolio.
Ready to begin another round of my ‘Pueblos Blancos’ photo project. Possibly the final series after three years in the making of a portfolio ready for exhibition and/or publishing.
Tonight- Our short documentary 'Dear Glasgow: Letters from Mykolaiv’ recognising Glasgow’s twinning with the Ukrainian city has its Scottish premiere as part of Refugee Festival Scotland. Entry free. All welcome. Q&A will follow screening. Get along if you can. Venue/Time below.
One for the diary. Our short documentary 'Dear Glasgow: Letters from Mykolaiv’ recognising Glasgow’s twinning with the Ukrainian city has its Scottish premiere as part of Refugee Festival Scotland. Entry free. Q&A will follow screening. Get along if you can.
He was and remains among my favourite musicians. Never a day passes without listening to his genius. RIP the great Sonny Rollins
Well and truly chuffed to be listed today as being awarded an Honorary Doctorate, Doctor of Letters (DLitt) for services to journalism, photography and broadcasting by the University of Glasgow. It's a really nice welcome home, having just come back from the Middle East.
I’m currently in Northern Iraq where these photos of Iranian Kurdish women fighters of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) were taken. Some are recent arrivals from Iran and fled brutal crackdowns. Almost daily they are now under Iranian drone attacks in their mountain bases.
I’m currently in Iraq - and the news over the past 24 hours of Shelly Kittleson’s kidnapping has impacted heavily on the journalist community here. Fingers crossed that Shelly will be released safe and sound as soon as possible . 👇
Stumbled across Band of Brothers on Sky Mix. Not that it’s the first, second, third… time I’ve watched it and in particular that Episode 7 in Bastogne. One of the greatest TV series ever made, and in these shitty times a reminder of when America was indeed truly Great.
Football sectarianism in Scotland is like the Epstein files. It’s the best distraction ever from the political issues that affect us all. Until, as Scots - whatever our stripe- we recognise that this poisons our potential as a nation we will always be ‘small’ and ‘pathetic’.
I’ll be on STV’s Scotland Tonight this evening with Greg Swenson Chairman of Republicans Overseas UK and Siavush Randjbar-Daemi, Lecturer in Modern Middle Eastern History at St Andrews University, to discuss the latest war between the US, Israel and Iran – Tune in if you can.
What an absolutely wonderful afternoon at @citizenstheatre remembering and celebrating the incredible character and talent that was Giles Havergal, groundbreaking artistic director at this great Glasgow cultural venue.
I’ll be on BBC Radio Scotland Sunday morning just after 9am to discuss the ongoing crises in Iran- Tune in if you can.
Saddened to hear of the passing of my friend David Harding. Artist, tutor and political compadre. David was a seminal figure in terms of public art inspiring a generation of creatives @Glasgowschoolofart.bsky.social My condolences to David’s family. Art has lost a wonderful person and huge talent.
The presidential office of the US hits a new low with that Obama video. To all my many American friends the answer to this abomination of a president lies in your hands. The time for simply laughing at Trump is over- the threat he poses to us all is far too great. Pic: Reuters
The connections between Epstein and the Kremlin just keep coming - How could Starmer fail to see the security threat that Mandelson posed because of his links with Epstein?
Check out why a political pamphlet first published in 1919 by the Scottish Marxist and revolutionary John Maclean has an eerie resonance in today’s global geopolitical madness- my column in Thursday’s @ScotNational 👇
Saddened to hear this. Did a bit of work with Searchlight back in the day. Gerry was one of the good guys.
