A clean sweep! All five. 🏆 Every single honey and marmalade in our little honesty box now has a Great Taste award. Three 2-stars, two 1-star. We didn't see that coming when we made a box to sell eggs from back in 2022. Which is your favourite? 🍊🍋🍯🥃 Still slightly stunned. Thanks, all of you. ♥️
A viewer sent us this SHAMAZING little pineapple for the motorhome. 🍍 Apparently it’s a symbol of hospitality, friendship… and one or two other things. We’ll be very careful which way up we hang it. 😂
I asked our followers a simple question: "Have you ever tried social nudity, and if not, why not?" The response was fascinating! My new Substack post includes your answers, common themes that came up again and again, and tips. Read for free on my Substack.👇 open.substack.com/pub/colindob...
When you open a packet of Jaffa Cakes or Chocolate Fingers, it’s the law that you have to eat the whole lot… right? What else can’t be left once it’s been opened? Asking for a friend… 👀
Apparently, fitting new carpets to ‘the boat’ means Ollie assumes we’re leaving right now. 🐾😂 He’s spent the last hour staring out of the window, dreaming about our next adventure. So… where would you send us next? 🚐
Woken at 2am by the CCTV showing this MONSTER climbing up towards the bedroom. Obviously, I immediately closed the window and slept in my bee suit. I’m not taking any chances. 🕷️😂
Hometime! 🏡 What an amazing trip. We’ve made new friends, rediscovered how much we love travelling, and proved that buying ‘the boat’ was absolutely the right decision. 🚐 We’re already looking forward to the next adventure, but being away has also reminded us just how much we love the Highlands. ❤️
Next stop: Croft Naturist Country Park. 🚐 The first thing Shaun shouted as we arrived was “Oh my God, she’s got her t*ts out!” 🤣 I might end up never leaving! 🍃 Also… It’s Shaun’s first time at a naturist club. 🍑 So far, nothing’s fallen off, nobody’s screamed, and he’s still speaking to me. ☀️
We chose this stop for Ollie… 🐾🌲 When travelling with a dog, proper walks make all the difference. Sherwood Pines has miles of woodland trails straight from ‘the boat’, and we’ve ended up with this whole little corner of the campsite almost to ourselves. This is exactly why we love travelling. 🚐💚
Castleford. It’s been a while! I was raised here before leaving in 2004 to travel the world and buy our first narrowboat, 'The Great Escape'. Today we’re just passing through, but it’s funny how a place can still pull at something inside you, even after all these years. 🚐
'The Boat' now has its own official mirror decoration. 🚐 A HUGE thanks to long-time Foxes Afloat viewers, Sally & Simon, who said hello and gave us this beautiful handmade plaque. It’s always mad meeting people who’ve been with us for years, but honestly, it’s one of the best bits of travelling. 💙
On our travels again. 🚐 Our destination is 600 miles away, so we’re breaking the journey with a couple of stopovers. First stop, Edinburgh, Caravan & Motorhome Club site. I had a wander down to Cramond Promenade and hoped to walk across the causeway, but the tide had other ideas. Maybe next time.
This nest box lid had definitely seen better days… 😬 So yesterday I made a new one. Eeeelaine didn’t budge from her egg once, despite all the banging and sawing going on around her. Priorities! 😂🐔
🐝 Every swarm we collect spends time here before joining the main apiaries. This gives us the chance to check their health, treat for potential varroa mites, confirm the queen is laying well, monitor temperament, and make sure they’re building up into strong, healthy colonies.
Lesson learned… 😂 I wanted some footage of the thunderstorms from our Velux window. Instead, I got some footage of me climbing a ladder to rescue my phone from the guttering after it slid down the roof. 😬 Moral of the story… hold onto your phone. 📱🌩️ (My phone’s fine by the way). 😅
Correct. Not 31C in the shade. 43C in the motorhome! Not even wearing skimpies here! 😬
Apparently, being carted off for heart checks is the universe’s way of saying, “Take a break, you idiot.” So that’s exactly what we’re doing. A few days away, a quiet pitch, fresh air, and no plans beyond putting the kettle on and staring at the view.
The Summer Solstice has arrived, and up here in the Highlands it barely gets dark at all. One of those days that reminds you just how lucky we are to call this place home. 🏴☀️🌲
The Highlands have an ageless beauty. 🏴🌲 I’ve got a grey beard and a dodgy back. 👨🏻🦳😅
Called out to the third swarm in a week. 🐝 This one was a couple of miles away in the village. Can you spot them? 👀
Collected two swarms today. One thing I never get tired of is how different bee colonies can look. One of these is noticeably darker than the other. Both are now safe, settled, and busy demolishing sugar gloop in their new hives at the quarantine apiary. 🐝🍯
Our first trip out in our new motorhome, (now known as ‘the boat’) was a bit dramatic. 😬 901 Miles 🚐 12 Men pooing 💩 104 Door slams 🚪 1 Dodgy pie 🥧 4.5 Hours of silence 😡 Watch the full video on YouTube 👇🏻 youtu.be/Rvcxni7OhLg
First trip away in ‘the boat’ 🚐 Will we love it, or will it be up for sale by the weekend? 🤔
Choosing decor for the motorhome, which Colin keeps calling “The Boat” 🤪 So… who’s in the naughty corner, and who’s doing the swearing?
Out walking Ollie beside the loch and this is the view I’m having to put up with. I’ve had worse starts to the day! ☀️ 🐾
