5/9 Human rights defenders (HRDs) and organizations continue working under the risk of criminalization. HRDs like Javier Tarazona or Carlos Julio Rojas face unfair trials. Laws have been approved that can be used to persecute those who defend rights and seek justice.
4/9 In detention centers, torture, overcrowding, incommunicado detention, unannounced transfers, and denial of medical care persist. Emirlendris Benítez and Juan Carlos Marrufo continue to require medical assistance.
3/9 Between 2024-2025, we documented the forced disappearance of 15 people, and concluded that they could constitute crimes against humanity. Since August 2, 2024 until today, the fate or whereabouts of Jorgen Guanares is unknown.
