This @washingtonpost.com editorial is flat-out wrong. A lie told in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy is a crime. There is no slippery slope here. Trump lied as part of a scheme to defraud the United States. It wasn’t an opinion. It was a lie by an elected official with criminal intent.
It says a lot about the normalization of Trump’s instability that his threat to attack Iran WASN’T the lead story on either CBS or NBC’s nightly newscast.
We may in the week that is latermarked as the beginning the end of Trump.
