happy 50th anniversary to the COSMAC ELF, designed by Joseph Weisbecker! my favorite microcomputer platform to tinker with. i’ve built many ELFs and clones over the past two years. this CPU is the first CMOS CPU, and was used in NASA’s Galileo spacecraft, as it is low-power.
happy 50th birthday to the Zilog Z80!! i am always thinking about Akihabara’s Z80 gachapon
RCA COSMAC Game Manual II RCA VP-720 (1980) Cover illustration of the second COSMAC VIP game and program manual. Games were typed in through the VIP’s hex keypad, or saved and loaded through cassette tape. Printed August 1980
fixed my Amiga 2000 so serial Tx transfer functions correctly by replacing an IC. the NComm terminal program can render ANSI half-blocks as graphic characters, so i was able to render a graphical Mandelbrot on RCA BASIC3 on COSMAC ELF. it took 42 minutes to compute and render as half-block @ 4mhz.
this clone of the classic Pump font is pretty amusing, there’s an upside down “y” as an “h” and two different c’s. not sure where the i comes from
SORD SMP80/20 (announced April 1974, released May 1974) This i8080 microcomputer beat the release of the Altair 8800 by almost a year, yet is mostly forgotten as it was only sold in Japan. The front panel is divided into hexadecimal vs. Altair’s octal notation. museum.ipsj.or.jp/en/computer/...
this is my Momo plushie i ordered over buyee 6 years ago. if i ordered it today DHL would have destroyed it under new customs law
very proud to have a VHS copy of Flipper’s Guitar music video and commercial compilations from all three albums
adapted a classic BASIC guessing game to AIM-65, except i wrote it to mock the player when they lose or exit
my ayn thor can now power on my rca studio ii console (5v DC mod) the rca studio ii uses so little current, (less than 5 watts of power) so a 5V 0.5amp power supply is enough.
