I had the series' next iteration on my bookshelf when I lived in San Francisco back in 2006/2007. I always preferred the single author versions of Wrox though. Didn't remember having a magazine rack, I love it. I miss SQL Server Magazine so much. It was often over my head but I loved it, still.

Found this gem my friends made of me when I was 20 years old, clowning how much I loved Robert Vieira's SQL Server books. Those Wrox books were the first that spoke to the audience like coworkers and not like robots ala Addison-Wesley. Now I love @manning.com, which is casual but accurate.

per linus torvalds: I realize that some people really dislike AI, but this is an area where I'm willing to absolutely put my foot down as the top-level maintainer.

Linux is not one of those anti-AI projects, and if somebody has issues with that, they can do the open-source thing and fork it.

Or just walk away.

AI is a tool, just like other tools we use. And it's clearly a useful one.

It may not have been that "clearly" even just a year ago, but it's no longer in question today.

There are other questions around AI (like what the economy of it will actually look like in the end), but "is it useful" is no longer one of those questions. Anybody who doubts that clearly hasn't actually used it.

Yes, it can also be a somewhat painful tool, both for maintainer workloads and just from a "it keeps finding embarrassing bugs" standpoint.

But the solution is not to put your head in the sand and sing "La La La, I can't hear you" at the top of your voice like some people seem to do.

Having a whole lot of fun this week with Fable and Sol. Sol I'm reserving for front-end work, so I've updated @mutesky.app finally! And now I'm building a Dragon Quest-like front-end for Infocom's Wishbringer! The reimagination of the original map took my breath away 🤯

I just cant even believe this is my machine, it's from 2023 but I'm still so in love.

Found an image of the infamous cheese I cut so wrong, I made a French family gasp! They handed me the knife, expecting me to be a civilized cheese person but I immediately cut off the tip 🔪 Even the child gasped. And that's when I learned that cutting cheese in France is an art.

So I've exported all of our recipes and I'm redoing the website in Hugo. And I'm going to do AI SEO galore. (As an aside, omg, I logged into my VPS, installed claude and had it do all of my exporting! I didn't have to relearn WP CLI. I didn't have to figure out the sql schema or how even to login.)

There's so much pressure — after using a ton of context to discuss the new design of RealCajunRecipes.com Knowing the context is full of our vibrant design discussion, do I open a new session or not? Knowing that the design is variable and I'll be staring at it for the next X years..
