Perhaps you don't know that I was born in a US colony (Puerto Rico) and grew up in Latin America and Europe. The US mainland claimed 43 years of my life, some good, some bad. What counted as "normal" in the US became increasingly intolerable, and some 15 years ago I began exploring exit pathways. With my partner and child in danger of losing their lives to fascism, the time to act arrived.

It’s way more accurate (not to mention a massive missed opportunity) to describe it as a photo of the back of 2 ppl seated on beach chairs, under a parasol, on a flat sand bar, looking across some flat water at massive black and orange clouds if smoke.

Stunning, grim image. Hard to imagine the photographer thinking about the downsides of net zero while taking it. They were probably thinking just the opposite, trying to capture the awful indifference of spectactorship as the planet burns to a crisp

My deep love for Charity Bryant and Sylvia Drake, the subjects of my 2014 biography Charity and Sylvia, has kept me silent, up to this point, about Tillie Walden's new graphic novel by the same title. Charity and Sylvia's story has been so deeply meaningful to so many people—their story has, without exaggeration, saved lives-that I've tried to be happy that Walden's book is making their story more widely known, even if she chose to take my title and my cover design as well as my narrative and my research with only a single sentence of acknowledgement at the end of her book in her notes section. Walden's illustrations and storytelling are wonderful, as I told her when she reached out to me during the writing process. It would take nothing away from her hard work to be honest about how it is built on my hard work. But in Walden's publicity tour, she has repeatedly made the claim to have based her book on her extensive research in the archive without acknowledging that her book is, in fact, based on my book. This false representation demands response not only for my sake, but for the sake of all the hard-working historians out there whose work has similarly been taken without credit. No, Walden has not "uncovered a chapter of queer history" in the archives, as her media interviews have claimed. She has adapted my book without credit or compensation, and claimed my research for her own. I don't doubt that Walden spent time looking at letters at the Henry Sheldon Museum, but the story that Walden tells is not to be found there. It is a story that I pieced together from years of visits to at least twenty different archives and locations across the United States, not only in Vermont but in Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, and Washington State, as well. since 21 August 1960, and I have been in conmand of this unit since 7 November 1960. I am aware that this man has had three battery punishments and one sumary court-martial during his relatively short period of assignment to this unit. On 10 November 1960, I personally interviewed Garcia to determine whether he could be persuaded to make an effort to cooperate with me if I gave him another opportunity to prove himself. However, Garcia indicated to me on the 10th of November 1960, that he had no desire to improve himself as a soldier,
as a soldier, and that a change of duty assignment or even a change in unit assignment would have no bearing on his present defective attitude toward military life, and that he was only interested in getting out of the Arny as soon as possible. During my association with the respondent in this unit, I have found Garcia to be unreliable, irresponsible, immature, unwilling to accept authority, and completely lacking in soldierly qualities. Garcia has been performing routine battery details while under my command. Garcia has evidenced no desire to return to the motor pool as a mechanic, or to be assigned to any specific job assignment. Garcia's only interest appears to be getting out of the Arry.
He shows no interest in any function connected with the military. His conduct is unsatisfactory and his efficiency is unsatisfactory. I foresee no improvement in Garcia's conduct or duty performance under these or any other circumstances while in the military. I predict that if this man remains in the military service, continued rehabilitation procedures will be of no avail, and that his character and behavior disorders will become more evident and quantitive.

Montblanc pens actually write very well, unlike Montegrappas. Italian pens notorious for fun design/atrocious nibs. The reverse snobbery around Montblanc is tiresome, factually baseless, and a lot of sour grapes.
Montegrappa designs are often ridiculous and cost 10x the MB 149 flagship.

Huge day. Our stuff is now in our apartment, thanks to an awesome crew (whose jaws literally dropped when I told them I’d given 2/3 of my books to students before I left🤣🤣). The dog is calmer than he’s been for a year. AND TOMORROW I’M GOING TO BARCELONA TO SEE BAD BUNNY!!! A worthy celebration.

Poor guy has been anxious ever since he understood something huge was happening. He did not like moving from apartment to apartment to apartment during the moving process.
