The video thumbnail for the exciting Youtube show Game Sack. Don't click it. Click the link instead. I upload a picture instead of letting the link resolve the thumbnail because Bluesky is kinda ass in that regard. It makes the thumbnail dim and overall just lame. So I upload the image as a JPEG file instead. Sadly it's not clickable. I mean you CAN click it, but it only enlarges it. You can't click it if you're using your phone. You have to physically touch it with one of your appendages. Gross.

This is how I did the intro for Game Sack starting in 2024. I used my iPad Mini to mirror my Mac's desktop and draw in Photoshop with the Apple Pencil. It's animated on 2s which means it runs at 15 frames per second. I didn't want anyone to think this was a filter or AI!

HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION:
You are destitute, starving, and roaming the streets that you call home. You happen upon an alley as you look for a garbage dumpster to search for this week's meal. You find a dumpster and scavenge through it, but alas nothing edible is found. It begins to rain and you spot another dumpster further down in the dark alley. You decide to investigate even though your bum leg is starting to act up. You make it to the dumpster, your leg in great pain. As you begin to sift through the discarded filth, you notice that you have competition. It's a giant rat with several maggots feasting on it, but it's still alive and it's trying to get the food that you're after. The rat looks delicious to you, so you decide to grab it. But as you do another hand is reaching for that very same rat! You look to see who's trying to claim your food for their own. It's the re-animated corpse of Bill Bixby!! You shove Bill Bixby onto the ground, claiming that the maggot rat is yours to eat, as you haven't eaten in a week. Bill Bixby claims that he hasn't eaten since 1993 and is quite famished. A brawl ensues. Punches are thrown. Every dirty fighting trick in the book is used. Bill Bixby attempts to turn into a green Lou Ferrigno, but he's unsuccessful since Lou is still alive somewhere and has not yet been re-animated. This gives you the advantage over Bill Bixby. And ultimately the decision is up to you. So my question to you is this: Is Super Mario Bros 3 your favorite? Or do you prefer Super Mario World over that one?

Forza Horizon 6 "finished" at 32 hours. The Saturn is a 32-bit console. Coincidence? YES! It has nothing to do with this game, why would you even think that? I still have things to do here that don't matter like finding all of the roads. Overall a good game, but stale. WRITTEN REVIEW IN ALT TEXT!

The difficulty is buggy. The game is as difficult or as easy at any time as it wants to be. If you win like I do because I am awesome, the game begs you to increase the difficulty. The correct answer is “yes”. It won’t be much if any more difficult after choosing the affirmative option. However if you start messing with the difficulty on your own, the game may or may not oblige your choice. I’ve been absolutely smoked right out of the gate on “Tourist”, the game’s easiest setting, and changing it to “Highly Skilled” on the same race with the same vehicles can result in you blowing right past everyone else once the countdown finishes. Not always though... the game does what it wants to do. Other than that the game is quite enjoyable... it’s Forza Horizon.

So how are the graphics and audio? The visuals are quite good, they remind me a lot of Forza Horizon 5 for some reason. You won’t think you’re watching a TV broadcast but it is all pleasant looking. On the Xbox Series X you can still see the textures change in fidelity about 30-50 feet in front of you or so. To me it is kind of distracting, similar to the mip-mapping in old Dreamcast
games that bothered me even back then. It seems we will be burdened with this forever. The game offers a 60fps mode and a crappy 30fps mode that renders at a slightly higher quality. I do not understand why developers even bother with the 30fps modes. Who wants this? Why? It honestly doesn’t look all that much better, and the “mip-mapping” is still there. You certainly can’t notice the extra detail when you’re racing at 200mph, that’s for damn sure. In my opinion, devs should only concentrate on one visual mode... take it or leave it. Nobody would complain if the crappy 30fps mode wasn’t in there.

The audio is generally pretty good as well, though a step down from part 5. There is still plenty of surround sound here. The previous game had much more intense discrete subwoofer, or “LFE” if you prefer. I don’t think most devs are set up well to mix surround audio. They have small speakers which send all of their low end to their subwoofer. Sounds good to them, it’s a wrap on the sound mixing! But it doesn’t sound all that impressive on a big system with big speakers as they don’t have much discrete subwoofer audio here. It’s there but not as much as the previous title. What happened? Dolby Atmos is supported, but it works poorly on the Xbox, with a huge delay in an action onscreen and when you hear it. The radio stations are fine. Each station has what feels like maybe 10 songs. I had to turn the car engine and general sound effects down to 25% because otherwise they overpower the music a bit. The volume sliders are weird, you’d think at 25% volume I’d barely be able to hear the engines against the 100% music, but it’s still clear as day.

I’m not really concerned with beating for finishing games. Usually I stop playing when I feel I’ve had enough of a title. Forza Horizon 6 was one of the few that I did become interested in doing almost everything I could in the game. I’m at level 176 (it’s unclear what “level” does for you in this one). I’ve gotten all 7 wristbands, all Discover Japan stamps and won all of the races awarded after that. I still need to find all the roads, (a little over 100 to go), find and smash all the mascots and all the boards. I will do those things, and then I’m done.

I do like racing games, and for the most part this is good. I do hope that they do something to add some new life in Forza Horizon 7 instead of being the same wash-rinse-repeat that this title mostly is. And please, fewer screens with event organizers. Nobody cares about them. Nobody.

2nd or 3rd impression. 6 hours in. Gets better as Horizon games are slogs to begin, and ALL modern games are annoying at the start with constant interruptions, etc. Once it leaves you alone it improves. I wish they'd stop forcing me to race in this boat though. The enemies get far better vehicles.

FORZA HORIZON FIRST IMPRESSIONS: In the words of Talking Heads, "Same as it ever was". Nothing new here other than the locale and different radio buddies who absolutely Will. Not. Shut. Up. Graphics are the same quality. Audio has been a bit downgraded from part 5 with less subwoofer.

Bored already with this one. I'd be disappointed but I guess it's my own fault for buying it. I'll say the same thing when I buy part 7.

Finally got this! And it comes on a Game Key Card™! It's Xbox so that's perfectly OK. The rules are that you're only supposed to get mad when Nintendo does this. I suppose my biggest gripe though would be that Xbox always has the slowest network speeds. Oh well, worth it for this game!
